Brendan Ingle always describes boxing to his pupils as "legalised assault".

I think the first thing is about horrible mismatches and blatantly matching people looking for a KO. Putting Zerafa in against Quillin was ridiculously stupid. Now, I understand the need for journeyman, etc., but a f-ing former middleweight champion should not be fighting a guy like Zerafa. It's easily classless marketing just looking for a KO.

It doesn't come off as exciting either, but sad. That entire Quillin/Zerafa card punctuated it with Campillo and Bundrage both looking completely shot-to-****.

I actually felt ashamed to be watching that card at times, even down to the Charlo K9 match which I knew would be a massacre as well, Jermall has pretty serious power far too much for the twice KO'd Bundrage.

I thought the same about the Garcia-Salka match up. Very classless from Haymon. thankfully it didn't end up in tragedy

You want to watch Joshua's fights where he is pummelling 50 years who are half the size of him and can't defend themselves, with the crowd cheering as if he just ko'd a prime Mike Tyson.

I have a difficult time watching a fight if I know it had a tragedy

I was in the building for the Mago and Perez fight, what a war the crowd loved it. I was proud for both men as a fan. I figured I would watch this fight several times when I got home. I got the news and just couldn't believe it. It does not take much to kill someone with your hands. A kid died in my town a few years ago one shot and a fall on pavement and he was done, 17 I believe.

I don't like to read about it and I hate to see it. I read Mancinis book the good son and that fight really changed boxing. The networks started to really move away from the sport and that's where HBO and SHO began to turn into boxing giants. I think they said 7 million homes had the fight and by Arums estimation 20 million Americans saw Kim die on live TV

Imagine that 7 million homes. A fight on HBO that does 1 or 2 mil is seen as a big success. Kinda shows where boxing is at

very dangerous but then they take cheating very lightly. a lot of boxers were caught but they were given very light punishment. when i started watching the sport, i often heard that boxers have harsher punishment from the law including cancellation of license to fight and imprisonment in case they got involved in assaults/battery because of the power they wield in their hands so they seldom got involved in physical violence with the community. if they can kill with the gloves on, just imagine when they don't have padded hands.

It gets my blood boiling when people call fighters "cowards", "bums" and whatever else. most of these people can't comprehend what it takes to even get fighting fit, never mind actually fighting or even a damn sparring session. Most of these people wouldln't sacrifice their youth, nights out drinking with friends, being able to eat whatever they want whenever they want because they can't understand the discipline and dedication it takes to give up bad foods and drinks to train themselves into peak condition. Most of them haven't run miles untill the fatigue sets in and you just want to collapse . They'd rather sit their smoking cigarettes and calling real fighting men bad names and think themselves king kong because they've had a few rubbish drunken brawls. Most will never understand when the swelling sets in and theres rounds to go and you keep catcing jabs or more spiteful shots on this swelling, the heart it takes to dig deep and carry forward and mentally keep yourself in the fight. Most have never done it, and those are the ones that mock fighters and think they can ridicule someone who puts their life on the line. If you think its easy go and sacrifice your youth your vices if you have any, go and do roadwork every day, rigorous camps, do the sparring, and sit in that changing room before your fight and wait as the tension mounts up, thoughts creep into your head that you have to overcome and pshyce yourself up. get through them ropes and see if you can keep your composure and read your opponent when it all gets real. get off the sofa get out of the pub talking rubbish with all the beer in you thinking your hard because you've had a few minor scuffles get fighting fit and try it yourself

Agreed. I skipped the Charlo match because I knew it would be a mauling.
