To me nothing suggest that either fighter should be vehemently favored.

Lewis got rocked the first day they spared...that's all that's needs to be said.,even said to refuse to get back in the ring that day..regardless 15 year old Tyson had literally no style at that time he won on pure aggression....Lewis would not fare any better from 19/20 year old Tyson.Lewis was able to make adjustments the next time but he was more mature,being 15 is a major difference.it didn't go down with rounds they spared 3 days,and Lewis matured a bit faster then,Tysons style wasn't of amateur but more pro,which is why he was able to go right in on a world title.I also believe Lewis knew this which why he stayed amateur longer and let Tyson go by him in the 80's.

Lewis was just starting his pro career when he fought Ocasio. Ocasio had a wealth of experience. He also went the distance with Ray Mercer around the same time. I don't think it's a stain on Lewis's record that Ocasio lasted the distance.

 

I sort of view things as a win is a win is a win. I know we think fighters are static and don't have good and bad outing reality is different. If it wasn't Lewis would have lost his rematch against Rahman.

 

not sure, lewis had all the tools to outpoint Tyson, except perhaps the concentration over 15 rounds, that might have him on the canvas. If that happened I don't see mike letting him recover.

This reminds me of in knockout kings on my old ps2 (years back) lewis was always a bit slow, I never liked picking him.

 

Lewis peaked at an older age. 1999-2002 Lewis was a peak Lewis. But even 1996 Tyson was ducking Lewis.
