Is Ciaran Bates any good, what are his skills like? I know his brother George is a really good rangy amateur, him vs Sean McComb must have been the first time that two 6 ft plus lightweights ever contested an Irish title there earlier in the year.
Good under rated fighter he boxed for Ireland good few times good power and tough. Holds his own sparring likes of Phil Sutcliffe and Ormond just not getting much credit at moment. Works full time as an electrician aswel at moment so not at his full potential but hopefully next year or so can get couple big wins. Davitt keeping him busy enough so hopefully gets the breaks!
well-written article outlining what pretty much everyone wants: http://www.irish-boxing.com/opinion-piece-take-the-fight-carl/ .......and so say all of us! This fight ..and this deal offered by Matchroom, is by far the best deal available to Frampton. But Carl is holding out. By stalling, Carl is jeopardising a HUGE fight, a potentially career-defining fight, and is cutting off his own nose to spite his face. Take the fight Carl - you can do your talking in the ring by smashing Quigg. Just be sure to have a 'rematch clause' as insurance in case anything goes wrong. Apart from that - away you go!! Its a no-brainer.
Even if he had nothing arranged I dont think he'd be in any hurry to fall over himself co-operating with Wazzen. Wazzer didnt seem to do much for Spike when they were together, as I recall. Spike was with him for what?...3 years? - 3 of his prime years too, and if I recall he was almost completely inactive during that period for some strange reason???? Maybe someone can shed some light on this......:huh
If you haven't already done it lads check out some of Michael O'Reilly's recent fights at the Feliks Stamm tournament. The lad is quaity and I really think he can win gold in the worlds in a few weeks time:good [YT]ev2k8hQ0-28[/YT] [YT]l9FvqKoe8yM[/YT]
Guys who are the coaches at MGM i havent been impressed with the fighters,Looks like a fantastic place to train and seems to have all the gear but the performances are not living up to it, Saunders and Fitz being beaten by journey men inside a week, Jamie Conlon should really have been stopped in his last bout, Even some of the wins havent been impressive, The boxers look in great shape but arent producing the goods in the ring,
I've been thinking the same thing for some time. Its a very impressive gym - all the equipment etc that you could want, state-of-the-art really, but the boxers they have just dont seem to have the the talent. You cant make a silk purse from a sows ear, as they say.
