You box him. All that wild **** that guys like him, Pac, Foreman, and any other slugger can be controlled through clinching, a stiff jab, defense and movement.

Not many can accomplish this feat. Only the greats can. Then you find out that the slugger isn't as exciting as you thought he was after mowing down bums and inferior comp. Was Pac exciting against Floyd or Bradley? Was Foreman exciting against Ali? You draw it up.

I think that some of you guys are missing the point. Fighters get better. You learn in the amateurs. You win and lose in the amateurs. Those amateurs who lose decisions but show an ability to adapt usually turn out to be great pros win or losing at the amateur level.

I'm talking about guys like Floyd, Cotto, Lomachenko, Dlh, Leonard, etc etc. I don't know about guys like GG. Example. For some reason I knew that Breland and Mel Taylor would win titles but wouldn't become great pros. they were bordeline great pros but pretty good pros. I was somewhat unsure of how Floyd and Sweetpea would turn out because of their power. I had to wait to see how their heart and will to win panned out. They turned out to be pretty good pros.

I'm still unsure about GG and the man is 33 years old. Beating 1 good opponent won't do it for me. I'll let you know which fight does it for me-if that opponent exists. That opponent doesn't have to be 29-0, 27 kos. Being able to adapt is fine enough for me. Can GG deal with a banger who has hurt him badly? Only time will tell.

Kostya Tszyu was given mad props and he failed this test and is still called great by guys in his part of the world.

Shane Mosely is a guy who failed his test and then passed by rematching Forrest and making a better showing in their rematch. You understand?

 

Can GG adapt his style like a Leonard did againt Hearns against a tough opponent. That was the epitome of how a fighter can change his game.

GG might have to adapt against a superb boxer or puncher. So far he's mowing everyone down. But all fighters meet that one dude. All of them do. Foreman, Tyson, Duran all of them!

Hearns did not have this in his game which is why he is a level below Leonard. Ricardo Lopez had to change his style against Rosendo Alvarez in fight 1 after being floored hard in their first fight. Not only did he adapt that fight, but also in the rematch. Hearns couldn't change his style to beat Barkley.

 

Ward's game is in and out so you're right, but top guys don't spoil to wins lol...

I don't know what his amateur record was. He probably fought some of the same guys he's beaten like 10 or more times I don't know, don't care. So far as a pro, he hasn't faced anyone capable of beating him...and many fighters who have had his record have at least fought one true threat.
