    Two things:

    1. Morales was DEFINITELY on the slide, and had been at least since shortly after the 2nd MAB fight. And I think I was wrong - I think he actually lost 5 of his last 6 (MAB 3, Raheem, Pac 2&3, Diaz). So his only win over the stretch of his last 6 fights (prior to coming back several years later) was, ironically, against Manny Pacquiao.

    2. My bigger point there is that in no way was Morales considered #1 in his division when Pacquiao faced him - for any of those 3 bouts.

And actually, make that 3 things:

    3. I give Pac plenty of credit for his battles with the trio of Mexican legends. But that doesn't change the fact that Morales was in decline, and that JMM and Pac essentially fought on even terms through their first 36 rounds of battle.

Morales was definitely in decline the last two fights for sure.

But 3 months before the first fight he was in a close fight that technically far surpassed the first Barrera fight. Was he 100% in the first fight? Probably not, but not that far off it IMO.

I'm not saying Pac didn't deserve credit for beating El Terrible, particularly in the 2nd fight. He did (and still does). I was impressed, and thought that fight marked a transition where Pac became a more complete, 2 handed fighter.

But I can't agree that the 3rd MAB-Morales fight proved anything which contradicts the notion he had already been in decline. Morales was widely expected to win and win big going into the MAB rubber match.

And if you want to argue MAB-Morales III was technically superior to their 1st fight, I have no issues with that. But the first fight was far more entertaining, and featured far superior versions of both MAB and El Terrible than their 2nd and 3rd encounters.

That 1st fight took a huge toll on both MAB and Morales, IMHO. Neither was quite the same after that type of war.

how they won their fights speak much volume on their accomplishments. one used speed to evade and box like the amateurs while the other used speed and power to dominate and destroy or make a good fight on the most possible even playing field. the other needs to impose glove restriction, exclusive vegas venue and usada, spy on his opponent, sucker punches for a ko, sabotages his opponents training, and all other advantages just to ensure his win. one never even fought on foreign soil while the other almost got all his glorious accomplishments on a foreign land whilst climbing multiple divisions and even started with very basic training, nutrition, and conditioning. the circumstances when pac got his wins and the chance to become great were just very uncomfortable. floyd has the bloodline and the proper training but he fights like an amateur who just scores to win but fears getting hurt so he mastered his defense and becomes fleet footed when threatened.

Salt Water has not accomplished what Floyd has, Mayweather has consistently beat bigger and better fighters than Salt Water, Floyd also remains undefeated and still #1 after 15 years! It's not even a contest, Floyd by a landslide

Ehhh. Scoring knockouts is impressive, but it doesn't make one fighter better than the other. It's a bonus, but not the main course.

All you have to say is Pacquiao fought the better men. It's really simple.

I don't know why you are asking this question still?? Boxing luminaries voted on who was fighter of the era. The answer was Manny Pacquaio by quite a margin. that's it FINITO Finished.
Anyway after what came to light after May2 casts serious doubts on every Mayweather win. Has he been juicing?? Has he been juicing all along??
This could be answered by taking the WADA test but you don't see Floyd rushing to clear his name do you? USADA & NSAC excuses & very late TUE's bring them into the conspiracy & corruption too Its time the Fed's stepped in

It took a Mayweather,USADA,NSAC & Vegas conspiracy to enable Floyd to finish way behind Manny in the FIGHTER OF THE ERA vote. Manny did it cleanly without help & illegal shennanikins. Mayweather CHEATED!!!!!!!!!

Pacquiao's accomplishments of the ring surpasses floyd that is why mayweather is always insecure and jealous against pac.

Pac was always the underdog for most of his fights and yet he still destroyed them in an impressive fashion.

Pac never ducked an opponent for 5 years mayweather has.

Pac never injected himself with illegal IV mayweather has.
