:deal Ventura should be Chakh'ed in 30 seconds. Afolabi shouldn't even go down. I dunno about Gassiev's whiskers. :conf
Some guy on another forum said Gassiev gave Huck hell in sparring and stopped Kalenga....:think He might be full of it :nono
With Lebedev and Drozd holding the WBA and WBC and IBF being booked for the next couple of months, WBO is the only available title for Kudra. Ryabinsky clearly wants to have the all titles on his fighters possesion, then put the unifications in process. Of course, It won't mean anything when Usyk comes for all his fighters :yep
Makabu's a bad style matchup the way any very good fighter with skill and power is but his biggest flaw, being slightly flatfooted, is one of Drozd's strengths considering his much improved footwork in recent years he's very mobile. Makabu winning is a very real possiblity though i have that one 50/50. The fights Dmitry is taking are positioning him in the WBC though where he's higher rated which i suspect is being done as insurance in case Makabu beats Drozd.
I really like Gassiev there's no reason to doubt his punch resistance yet. I think he looks great considering the length of time he's been fighting. Kalenga was his chief sparring partner when he was preparing for Dorticus apparently but I've never heard that rumour about him stopping him. I know Gassiev has sparred Wlad, Golovkin, Pascal and Kovalev too. Sergey broke his nose. Abel Sanchez said they have a hard time finding sparring partners for him. 'Russias undefeated cruiserweight Murat Gassiev has been touted as equally dangerous as middleweight world champion Gennady GGG Golovkin. But its not an easy path to follow. Gassiev (21-0, 15 Kos) moves forward when he faces sturdy Rodney Moore (17-9-2, 7 Kos) on Saturday, June 13, at Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, Calif. The fight card also features Mexicos Jose Felix Jr. UniMas will televise. Only recently has Gassiev fought in the U.S. and its been a tougher road for the Russian cruiserweight looking to go heavyweight. Moore fits right in that category as a boxer who can withstand big blows and test the Russian. Big guys like Andrey Fedosov, Danny Batchelder, and Quantis Gravis have been unable to knockout Moore. Can Gassiev? Physically Gassiev looks perfect for the cruiserweight division, but the big money lies with the heavyweights. His management moved him to Big Bear Lake to work under Abel Sanchez. This will be the 21-year-old Gassievs third fight in the U.S. He hits real hard, said Sanchez. Were having a tough time getting sparring for him. In Gassievs last ring encounter Felix Cora Jr. put up stiff resistance and a gallant effort against the Russian pile driver. After nine rounds of battering Cora was finally stopped and Gassiev seemed thankful that he was tested to the maximum. In January, a match held in Montebello, Calif. saw an opponent literally hold the entire fight with a grip like a Boa constrictor until a referee stopped the fight ruled it a technical knockout. But not Cora, he tried to win. Gassievs journey is currently in the baby steps mode as he tests the cruiserweight waters. But the goal is to move the Russian power hitter into the heavyweight realm. Tom Loeffler, who heads K-2 Promotions, which promotes Golovkin, said hes been able to observe Gassievs progress at Big Bear while the Russian fighter trains with Abel Sanchez. He has a tremendous upside, said Loeffler, whose company does not promote Gassiev. Hes a perfect fit for the style that Abel Sanchez uses. That style has been called many things, including the popular Mexican style that Golovkin likes to call it. Gassiev has a bead on it too. Can Gassiev make the jump into the heavyweight division?'
I think Gassiev is a very solid prospect with size similar to Usyk :good Just not sure if I believe he KO'd Kalenga in sparring, who's strong with a solid chin.
I don't believe Gassiev stopped Kalenga in sparring he took heinous bombs from Lebedev guy's chin is titanium. Even more so when you consider Gassiev couldn't take Cora out until the 9th. No sounds like Ryabinskiy is thinking about offering good money so Glowacki will fight him for a voluntary but he's also positioned to fight for the WBC title and he can't do both.
WOW a really big ****ing WOW I told you IB Chakhkiev had a glass jaw a few months ago on a RBR, well goddamn I was right. Although I haven't seen it yet, so it might be too soon to jump to conclusions, but..... Chakhkiev got dropped not once but TWICE by Ventura. He dropped Ventura once and UD'd him in a relatively close fight.atsch Maybe he should duck Afolabi.
It is a real shame. When Chakhkeiv came to the pros, there was some serious talk of him moving to heavy. Skill wise he regressed, he does not have a great jaw even at crusier, and he is now struggling for a place in what is ironically boxing's most crowded division. His career is not over, but going nowhere fast.
I find that very hard to believe too. Do you remember the name of the poster who said it I might be familiar with them? :good
