Kovalev had no contract with HBO at the time the mandatory was announced (a mandatory that, as you omitted above, Kovalev's team lobbied for and even paid sanctioning fees in order to acquire). The network merely returned the same first/last rights that they had on Stevenson when he left. If they were unwilling or unable to match another network's bid for the fight they would have no legal recourse against Kovalev.

Of course that changed when Duva reupped the contract knowing full well it would make the fight she pretended she wanted impossible.

All I know is that The Pimp and his team called out Duva and Kovalev and their only response was to close the purse bid and call Adonis a chimp.

Kovalev is without a doubt petrified of the Pimp. I'd be terrified too. Those prison stories we've heard of him are no joke. The man is too tough for his own good.

 

So your answer to the fact that Kovalev droped his mandatory position, after paying close to 100,000$ for it, was his "honorable loyalty" to a corporation. But they could have went for the bid. GYM said they would have gone to HBO is Kovalev won the bid. But Kovalev's team pulled out.

To me they are both piece of shoot, Stevenson being obviously the bigger one.

 

Ok with Kovalev, he took a business decision. But he could have went for the bid... They both would have made good money for that one fight which Kovalev probably would have won. Kovalev probably would have made more money in that one fight than in severall fights with HBO.

On the other hand, Haymon might have put more peanut butter on Stevenson's toast to. It is what Yvon Michel has been saying anyway. Plus Stevenson seems to be a Mayweather wanna be. Being a Haitian living in Quebec, he has some colonized person reflex in that regard. He went for the guy who Mayweather is with.

What I want to say is that both are to blame for the fact that the fight didn't happen yet. They both made business decision in my opinion.

And by the way, I don't think Ward weigh any weight in the decision. When Ward accepts a fight with Kovalev call me (I am afraid we will never talk).

If we are talking about fighters themselves, not their promoters or advisers, then Kovalev clearly wants to fight Stevenson, while the pimp doesn't.

 

Its obvious that Stevenson is ducking. But they are doing a good job at making it look like its Kovalev doing the ducking. I have to say that the Haymon Propaganda machine does a superb job.:deal

 

Type 10 paragraphs and don't say ****. I'm sure if they had the chance they'd have already fought. It's caught up in promotion hell. But it's funny people are getting irate at Superman for getting $1.25MM to fight these guys, and Kovalev got $500k to fight B Hop. If Kovalev re-signed with Duva because he knew he'd get a bigger payday like Stevenson I would understand, but this was a clear cut duck. It was far worse than Stevenson going to a different network to sign wtih Haymon.
