if wilder does not fight povetkin next does the wbc strip him?

Not only he should fight Povetkin next, he should fight him in about 4 months to keep the title. But WBC won't strip him even if he goes and fight Eric Molina again next.

 

He has to fight a mando within a year If I'm correct, so he'll have three months left.

Not if it's Wlad, who it should be anyway (1. Wlad deserves it for career 2. Wlad beat prio WBC number 1 Bryant Jennings 3. Wbc rules allow for delay on mandatories for unification bouts.). If its another fringe contender like Duhaupas, or anyone else, for that matter, then he should justifiably be stripped. Who know if it happens, though, WBC has been unusually kind to Wilder to this point.

thats actually an interesting point . . . the whole WBA regular / WBA super thing confuses me but I guess it would be a unification of sorts . . . . . saying that what if Chagaev knocked out Deontay Wilder? he showed he can still pack a punch even at 36 and has experience fighting THE BIGGEST heavyweight champion in Nikolai Valuev so size wouldnt be a major factor in the fight and Wilder was on ***** street against Eric ****ing Molina.

Wladimir has also beaten Chagaev

If either of them were to beat Wilder then the WBC unification wouldnt have as much luster against a champion who has already been beaten.

 

Good question:good. I guess I'd accept that. Technically it would count as a unification and be excused by WBC, and also it would be hard to discredit a fight against a fairly clear top 10 HW as a duck(while also increasing his cache in a very winnable fight building to a more lucrative fight against Wlad or Poevtkin). Clearly, though, he'd have to fight Wlad or Povetkin next.

 

Agreed. Which is why I'm hoping Wilder fights Wlad before he fight Povetkin. Wlad Wilder is much more interesting than Wlad Povetkin, even though Povetkin probably beats Wilder(and Wlad probably beats Wilder as well).

The rules are that Wilder should have fought his mandatory already, but instead, this is the 2nd fight Wilder has had and he has not fought his mandatory, just read that Wilder does not plan for fighting Povetkin ever............................however, the WBC rules forced Stiverne to fight Wilder, he did not get to fight two defenses against unranked bums, but Wilder will never have to fight anyone who can fight back....................double standard......................Povetkin is Wilder's mandatory.....................................but WBC will not enforce their rules for Wilder, watch and see..................

 

No, those aren't the rules. They are posted on the WBC website and easy to read and comprehend.

Stiverne won a vacant title. By WBC rule, any champion who wins a vacant title has to fight a mandatory as his first defense.

There's only one required mandatory per year. When Wildler won the title in January, HE was the mandatory. Povetkin didn't become mandatory until beating Perez in the eliminator in May.

Wilder by rule will have to make his mandatory against Povetkin (presuming he wins his tune-up), likely in early spring as both sides will agree to push the date back from January because late-February or early-March is a much more desirable window for promotional reasons.

Povetkin's wait for a title fight as a mandatory challenger is much shorter than usual because he only became No. 1 four months ago and mandatory negotiations will be ordered in October.

 

It actually doesn't matter, does it? Chaggy showed he's still too risky for Wilder(not skill-wise, but mentally) Cashing out against Wlad seems to be the most sensible option, and you can still build a career after getting beaten by Wlad.
