Nelson's latest article on Sky Sports has him saying that he thinks CEJ can be better than Sr. What are people's thoughts on this? Personally, I think he'll probably get a world title but only because there are 4 belts (and I see him doing it at SMW). I don't think he's world class though. His punching power seems a bit overrated, he postures WAY too much and - if they were to rematch - I think BJS would outbox him again. Perhaps Booth will address some of those issues but the cynic in me thinks this is just Sky/Matchroom trying to hype up their new fighter.
He's yet to prove he is even fringe world level. If it wasn't for the fact he has 'Eubank' as his surname nobody would care. **** me this is boring.
I agree, it's much the same as Chavez Jr. Just after people's opinions; if it bores you so much then don't read it.
Nelson is only hyping the new kid on the block for Sky.Jr is ok in this day and age of multiple title's but far from a star and elite fighter.
Oh, apologies. I think the Chudinov fight really flattered him as well (he looked really ordinary in his return). Chudinov looked quite one dimensional and at no point was Eubank able to hurt despite being able to pretty much tee off when he fancied it.
I do not think he will better his fathers achievements but he probably will make more money. Social media, advertising, endorsements can be a huge money maker so combine the family name with the all those things and he could be a very wealthy young man.
Spot on. He doesn't even have an ounce of the charisma that his father had. Hardly surprising to be fair to him though, he can't get a word in edgeways.
Serial trainer. never not in the gym. Doesn't smoke, drink or swear. Ever. Lives the life at all times. People have short memories. Received wisdom on JR just keeps shifting. Three years ago he was a joke, simply rubbish at boxing. two years ago he seemed to have a tiny bit of skill but no power. Then around 18 months ago he was suddenly powerful but had no skill. Then he was fighting tin-cans and had no heart. Then he took the fight with BJS, stepping up from the tin-cans by several levels, so had heart. Then BJS went life-and-death with him and won a fight (I personally think JR inexperience cost him that - he'd have been better off fighting two or three more tin cans first..). Then he won an interim world title. I just think it's possible people could be being too hard on the fella.
Too say BJS went life and death with Jr is a bit of an exaggeration. Saunders toyed with him the first 6 rounds, CEJ couldn't get near him.
Yup, I can make a case that is fair. Important to remember though that when people were urging Junior to "step up and stop fighting tin cans"... they weren't really talking about immediately fighting BJS. That was a gutsy move, and a gamble given lack of experience. I just think it gets forgotten a bit. Certainly Junior *****ed up the first half of that fight. I think he was nervous under the lights personally. Not that anyone asked me.
He'll carve out a good career for himself as he does seem dedicated to his craft, but his old man was made of granite, a proven world class fighter involved in some top fights over the years (win or lose)... he'll have go some to over take that. Personally don't see it happening.
