Funnily enough, Lewis went on to fight the same guys, years after Tyson.

Oh and it wasn't Tyson who dragged Mcall out of rehab.

Yes but he went on to beat the likes of Holyfield and even Tyson himself, kind of trumps him there I think.

And you don't think Toney had some serious mileage on the clock? What do you think to his performance?

Tyson avoided Tim Witherspoon and fought too many of the same people Holmes defeated and Yes I'd add Spinks to the list.

Some of Tyson's title opponents were out of shape. Other had issues with drugs.

    Tyson didn't avoid Witherspoon..

Witherspoon was scheduled to unify his WBA belt with Tysons WBC belt in '86, except Witherspoon got knocked the **** out by Smith.

    So Tyson fought smith instead.

If Tyson had fought Spoon, you'd be here claiming he avoided Smith.

Who was out of shape vs Tyson?

One guy, Tubbs and its debatable if he was out of shape because, well that was his natural shape anyway.

And secondly, if they have issues outside of boxing, its not Tysons problem really.

James Toney, accorodng to most, was in his heavyweight prime vs Holyfield.

Like I said before, how many people said 'Oh Toney is shot' prior to the Holyfield fight?

    Nobody.

I don't care what people said, no way in hell was Toney at his fighting prime by then.

It was Toney's first fight at heavyweight, Holyfield was the betting favourite.

Well of course it will go down as his prime because it was his best performance, don't have to be a brain surgeon to work that one out.

    Back to the original question.

How did Toney have more wear and tear than Holyfield then?

And who mentioned this prior to the fight.

No I would not Smith was not great, and besides Larry Holmes had already beaten him.

It is well known that Don King black balled Tim Witherpsoon.

There is some speculation that Witherspoon vs. Smith fight was fixed. Witherpsoon's home was also robbed on the same night.

Witherpsoon is likely the 3rd best heavyweight of the 1980's, behind Holmes and Tyson.

None of that Is Tysons problem though.

He wanted to unify the belts, regardless of who was holding them.

Witherspoon was blackballed because he decided to take King to court and King ruled the heavyweight division. Not really Tysons problem.

Witherspoon was the third best, that's fine, but he still got knocked out by smith who took his place.
