He took a bit of a beating the last few rounds, was there any point you thought 'this needs to be stopped'? :think

I don't think he should've been. For me Buglioni was the puncher of the two, was never getting a savage battering so always had a slim chance to turn things with a big shot.

I think he should have been pulled out around round 10, he gave everything he had but what was coming back was very laboured and he was being hit at will by Chudinov.

It was still Frank's best display but I sometimes worry about brave coaches, Frank would have got the same praise had his corner pulled him out then and he would have took less needless punishment that might hurt him later either physically or mentally.

I hope not because he can still have a good career and get a few good paydays and came again at British/Commonwealth and maybe Euro level.

Based on what? Who has he ever stopped in Chudinov's class?

On that argument Froch should've been stopped v Jermaine Taylor because he'd never stopped anyone in Taylor class.

Erm, Froch had just beaten Pascal, while Frank couldn't even beat a British level fighter in Markham.

    Awful comparison.

Don't think it should have been stopped, but had it been I also don't think there would have been a lot of complaint

His cornermen were much tougher than poor Frank. He was well beaten and had absolutely no chance of winning.

Chudinov did not even attempt to go for the KO. He did not need to, because he was outpointing Bugs so easily.

If Chudinov had wanted to produce a flurry of punches on Bugs it may have been stopped, but also there was no need to take any risks because Bugs had no chance unless Chudinov left himself open to a counter punch

Agreed. JJR were saying to him dont let him get a lucky shot, so he didnt went for it. I feel chud is very economical and doesnt take too much risk leaving himself open.

Bugs corner should of stopped the fight when round 10 ended, it could do more damage to bug in the long term when he was exhausted and took 2 more rounds of punishment.

    This really.
He was always shooting something back at some point.
He was never going to beat chuds but he still got a good result imo

I'm sorry but chudinov with his first face defence is not a very good champ. And he will be found out soon.

I wouldn't even fancy him against rocky fielding. I think fielding would land hard rights about his big nogan.

It is a really difficult question, As an outsider looking in at the time I thought maybe the corner should have stepped in and stopped it. That said, Buglioni did see the finish, wasn't floored and seemed very happy in interviews after that he did finish the fight.

As we have some access on here to a trainer who has trained a two weight world champion I would be interested to see what Billy Nelson has to say about this sort of thing...

firstly has he stopped a fight from the corner himself? and secondly is there a right time to stop a fight from the corner?

without being disrespectful to billy, i have said on here many time that i think he is at fault to a degree with the demise of ricky burns. he gets praise for getting ricky through the fight with beltran but at what cost? since that fight ricky has looked scared to take a punch, retreats to the ropes when he isnt really under pressure and imo it all comes down to being mentally damaged for fighting 10/11 rounds with a busted jaw.

billy will dispute this fact but i really believe that ricky could have beat beltran with ease and if he had pulled him out when the injury happened or at least when ricky asked to be pulled out they would have got the rematch and without the injured jaw would outbox beltran and get his title back. but hindsight is a wonderful thing and i wonder if billy had acted with compassion if him and ricky would still be working together!

Beltran was a different class to ricky.

He was schooling Ricky even before he busted his jaw.

The jaw excuse is just a cop out for the performance and for ricky getting exposed.

His trainer didn't do him any favours but the result would have been the same regardless whether he had nelson or Emanual Steward in his corner.

Ricky always had a tendancy to lean and shell up against the ropes, so nothing knew.

He just came up against a decent fighter and was exposed as domestic/european level fighter.
