At the end of the day, Tyson did what he had to do and wiped the flor with Tubbs.

Even taking into account the Butler loss, his performances during that period were on the level very good.

 

Tyson lost his title 4 years after turning pro, Lewis was knocked out by Mcall in the same time frame.

A fighter who turned pro at 18-19 isn't going to be the same fighter when he's 30 right?

 

No but he is at 23 right?

 

Maybe just maybe because he was in better shape around that period.... Of course window lickers like yourself can't fathom ideas like that.

 

I agree. Tyson can't be criticized for his performance against Tubbs.
Yeah, maybe Bowe's not as great as Lionel Butler !
But Bowe beat Holyfield and Holyfield beat Tyson, so it's all very confusing.
... and of course Bowe beat Butler too.

Don't confuse the nuthuggers with simple logic, of course they've never heard of the saying "styles make fights."

 

Tubbs and Butler got into a shoot out and Butler's short hook won. **** happens. Dempsey got cold****ed in similar fashion.

 

Well things like that do tend to happen when two men are throwing punches at each other...

 

And I thought Tubbs won the first round against Tyson.

I haven't seen the Dempsey fight.

Reggie Gross got into a shoot out with Tyson.
So did McNeeley.
I'm not about to give them that much credit for it. (although McNeeley was actually in the fight for a few seconds, imo. :yep)

 

Mcneeley was in the fight until he head-butted Tyson,that's when I think Tyson woke up and started landing some leather.

Would have been an interesting fight had it carried on.

Oh and Mcneeley got between $500-750k for his performance.

Everything about that fight was fraudulent. Possibly don King's proudest moment. Selling that to a gullible public.

McNeeley can't be faulted, he wanted to carry on. :good

 

I think King said something to the effect of 'If I can make this much money with a Mcneeley, imagine what I could do with a live fighter'.

I think it was the most viewed program worldwide at the time? I could be wrong.

The funny thing is the 'bums' Tyson fought in McNeely and Mathis actually put up a better effort than the 'Champions' Bruno and Seldon.

 

He went to court because he was blackballed. King rightly saw $$$ next to Tyson and did not want Witherpsoon to fight him.

Tyson was around at the perfect time. Holmes was in decline, and there were fragmented title holders, mostly controlled by King looking for big pay days.

Tyson had issues with bigger men with some skill He did not dominate Tucker, and was hurt by Bruno. Douglas cleaned up him.
