Do you have any proof that Tyson wanted nothing to do wit Witherspoon?

Tyson (wbc) champion was set to unify against the wba champion(Witherspoon) all spoon had to do was beat Smith. He didn't. So Smith fought Tyson.

if Spoon beat Smith, are you saying Tyson wold have dropped the belt and/or ducked Spoon?

Secondly how did Tyson not dominate Tucker? Tucker had the size and skillset to trouble Tyson, yet Tyson won nearly every single round. Tucker landed one significant punch in the fight and that was the uppercut in the first round.

Have you even seen the Tyson Tucker fight? That was an excellent performance from a small slugger vs a mobile, skilled, heavyweight with size advantage

Bruno rocked Tyson for a few seconds, don't forget Bruno was on his ass in that same round. Tyson recovered and then proceeded to beat the **** out of Bruno.

I do agree that Tyson came along at the perfect time.
Holmes was way past his best, and most of the others were on the decline or putting in inconsistent performances.
It's not Tyson's fault but he did benefit from it.

I'm not giving Tubbs credit for losing to Butler in a shootout.

I am giving him credit for beating Zolkin, Ferguson, Seldon, Norris during the same time period and also giving Bowe all he could handle. Those performances outweigh a single loss.

Are you saying Tucker lied? Did Tyson lie about his knee injury against Danny Williams too?

Difference is Tysons injury came in a fight he was winning.

I cant say the same for Tucker or Haye.

Tony Tucker has 2 good performances on his record. Both in 1987.
His win over Douglas looks good in hindsight because Tyson went and lost to Douglas a few years later.
Tucker had done nothing else to impress before he went 12 with Tyson.
It's absurd that he actually got ranked #1 by the IBF to get Spinks stripped and a shot at the vacant title.
I believe his 1986 fight with James Broad was an eliminator.

Tucker's hand injury happened in training. It was reported before the fight.

I think a hurt hand is more detrimental to a fighter than a bruised toe.

I don't like the fact that Haye keeps getting mentioned.
    His name taints every discussion.

Well Tucker hurt his hand in the 1st or 2nd round so that explains a lot don't you think....

Me thinks Tyson shot his load on Williams yet he was still standing and coming back for more, that poor knee of his must have been agony...
