Just watched this fight again. Man, no denying Golota had real, great skills. Good jab, good combos, good defense (he was slipping punches nicely). He looked awesome. What a waste of talent. atsch EDIT: Second point deduction was bull****. He hit his leg. Bowe milked it.
Yup I also think Golota was pretty good. There were moments when he made Bowe look like a beginner. If he could have kept his head together he really could have been somebody.
Golota was definitely talented, he had decent speed, a good jab, nice combinations and picked his shots nicely. But he never wanted to be a fighter, it wasn't in his nature and it showed when under pressure. Bowe in those fights did just enough to make Golota look for a way out. He paid a horrible price for it though, he took such a beating in both fights.
Disagree with that. Golota wanted to destroy Bowe, and the rules were only a minor inconvenience that got in the way of that. I think that Bowe not dropping for good pi ssed Golota off to no end, and that's why he started with the nut shots. Golota is the last guy that you would want to fight in an alley.
Wasn't it a case of him being world class in the gym and not being able to replicate that kind of form on fight night? Sure it was.
Bowe always looked good when he had the significant reach advantage,it wasn't the case with Golota who was a mobile quick power boxer with a jab who had the longer reach.I believe Bowe avoided lewis for this reason in the back of his head he didn't want any part of lewis.
woot, I agree with you on this point termite!! we could be totally wrong but I always thought Bowe's legacy was built on his 3 great fights with Holy and little else. Bowe looked really good when he had a size and reach advantage and not so much when he didn't.
A gut I know that sparred with ****ey said he saw Golota in the gym and he was amzaing but didn't want to be there. You could tell. Yeah Golota had skills big guy Goddamn I miss the 90s!
