Yea because a 20 pound overweight douglas is a perfect candidate to show holyfields skills? atsch On the contrary Douglas of 1990 would have a good shot to beat Holyfield of 1991.
Ruddock would give Holyfield a lot of trouble. Different prospect from a Rid**** Bowe but Ruddock had some speed to go with his size. Holyfield pulls it out because of his work rate. The guy was always on his toes and in motion. But I could also see Ruddock landing some bombs. I'll go with Holyfield in a close, competitive decision.
Holy is an underrated puncher. Not a big one-shot guy, but he had great timing and threw his punches with leverage and usually in combination. He knew how to pick his spots. His counterpunching was excellent. He stopped Tyson, dropped Mercer, wobbled Foreman more than once, dropped Bowe and wobbled him a few times...guy knew how to hit. And yea, he stops Ruddock.
Holyfield as was his tendency to do so would likely get into some heated exchanges and get his chin tested by the smash of Ruddock. But Holyfield was simply too good, too durable to lose to someone as limited as Ruddock. Ruddock would have his moments but in the end Holyfield wins comfortably, though not without some drama. The Ruddock that went the distance with Tyson likely also survives to hear the final bell and loses a wide decision. The Ruddock that fought Lewis likely gets ground down and stopped in the 2nd half of the fight. While Holyfield wasn't the biggest hitter he had decent enough power and I could see him hitting Ruddock hard enough and often enough to break him down.
Ruddock's been overrated here for a while now. Similar to Ron Lyle. But remember, Ruddock could.change the course of a fight with one shot. He had some skills to go along with that power but fought stupid. I really feel he'd give Holyfield trouble. Shat, Holyfield ALWAYS seemed to get himself into unnecessary trouble, even with lesser guys than Ruddock.
Ruddock was the only guy to ever to go toe to toe with a close to prime Tyson. He also has a win over lewis back in the day and used to box Holmes out in sparring.Hes was plenty good and his 16 fight win streak with 14 k.os before Tyson shows that.
Holyfield would beat him up pretty bad, stop him inside of 8 or 9 rounds. Ruddock's overrated. Tyson should really have finished him inside of 2 or 3 rounds but Tyson was sloppy in those fights.
Well it took Holyfield about that amount of time to get Bert Cooper and Alex Stewart out of there. Ruddock is a lot better than Bert Cooper AND Alex Stewart.
Well he was better and far more consistent than Cooper. But Cooper was on a decent run going in to the Holyfield fight. Ruddock was better than Cooper. But does that mean he'd last a lot longer than Cooper did ? Ruddock was hyped. How good was he really ?
