Yep definitely either Tua or Morrsison IMO, they regularly rendered fighters unconscious, something even Mike Tyson didn't do.
I'm not sure about Morrison. His power was incredible and there really isn't much it in at the top level, I guess, but he had trouble getting an over-the-hill Carl Williams out of there, and Williams was particularly open to left hooks. Jesse Ferguson was a fair left hooker and had a prime Williams down once or twice in I remember rightly, and Weaver had Williams done in 2 rounds. Most of the Morrison highlight reels he's literally facing taxi cab drivers and guys recruited out of the parole reporting centers. Butterbean stuff. Tua turned the one-punch trick against some credible fighters. Ruiz, Oquendo, Moorer etc.
What top fighters did Frazier k.o with his left hook? ONE...Chuvalo who injured his eye in the pervious fight, thats about it.Moorer was not known for his chin. Maybe TWO...Quarry?I like how all these guys tell me Morrison didn't k.o anyone like Fraizer has a killers row of guys he did?..Morrison fought the best chinned boxer ever in 90's Foreman, and Mercer who said Morrison was the hardest puncher he ever fought. He also made Thomas Quit and k.od Ruddock who rewoke when he hit the canvas in what is said to be the best hook ever thrown by many. Morrison and Tyson have the best k.o left hooks along with Wlad, guys like Ruddock and Frazier don't have many with top guys but I would bet anything ,if anyone had to take ONE hook from either watching clips they would never pick Ruddock, unless they wanted to sustain a chance in brain damage.
I don't think Frazier's left hook was the most powerful either, but he used it well and often, to the head and the body, long and short. Frazier ground men down with his left hook, not one-punch KOs, just steady beatings. I'd rate Tua, Liston, Wlad Klitschko and others as having HARDER left hook that Frazier.
It was his ability to land it hard and often that counted with Frazier, he carried power alright but I wouldn't say he was in the league of Tua or Morrison.
Yeah, I'm not sure either. Morrison possibly hit harder than Frazier. Tua I would say definitely did.
Then what do you rate the effectiveness and power of a hook upon? How pretty it looks? The loudness of the grunt made by the thrower of the punch? Call me simple but I look to results. We could make a compendium of ridiculous quotes made by George. He has claimed to be terrified of so many fighters it's a wonder he ever stepped into the ring. I remember that quote. Did a prime Frazier ever work over Mercer with his hook? No one is denying Tommy hit hard, just questioning whether his hook was among the most effective ever by a heavyweight. His results would say it was not as good as Frazier's. Care to cite the source here? I haven't run across it. Some of us have "lives". You know, jobs, workouts, families... We don't sit in mom's basement contorting logic in order to draw reactions from strangers. Again, name me the results from Morrison that would go to prove his left hook was more effective than Frazier's. I have listed those of Joe, which include laying out the heavyweight who is considered to have possessed the greatest championship chin of all time. I will check in again later for your reply... after I finish my long day of work, go to the gym and hang out some friends... maybe tomorrow.
I don't know about left hooks but I can guess who has the strongest right wrist, none other than Uncle Termite because he is by far the biggest w.anker on this forum.
I liked this post :good Tommy's left hook was beautiful. No doubt, however, it didn't really have a lot of effect on the top tier guys save Ruddock who I think was pretty good other than being a totally confused dude inside and outside the ring as it related to being the best fighter he could be. Personally I felt that Razor was beginning to take control of that fight prior to that booming left hook from tommy out of nowhere. But yeah other than that his left hook really didn't take out any of the top guys. Well it nearly took out Mercer, lol, but we all know what happened instead. I agree with the Tua comments as well, Tua is getting a lot of backlash on this forum but in his young prime he had a bit more speed and his left hook was one of the very best. Put it this way, I think I would take Tua's left hook over Tommy's by a hair.
