Douglas was teeing off on Mike, landing big combos and huge rights. He beat Mike in the most impressive fashion, and it was a better version of Mike than the version others beat.

Agreed. Buster just as easily could've been stopped when Tyson dropped him.

    One sided?

Poor example of a one-sided fight. Tyson rocked Douglas several times in that fight and it took a serious gut-check for Douglas to get off the floor.

I could name 100 fights far more one sided and probably more if my memory was better.

it was a beating of epic proportions
the one knockdown where douglas wasnt even hurt doesnt negate the fact it was a 1 way beating. this comes from a huge tyson fan

It doesn't matter what happened after that. Buster was down for 14 seconds and was KO'd, fight should have been done right there.

So why did it take Buster 14 seconds to get up?

Its supposed to be a 10 count, not 14 count. Douglas really was KO'd. This is like Usain Bolt losing a 100 meter dash because a timer didn't click the stop watch until a second later lol Or a goal is scored in hockey after the the clock stops but buzzer didn't go off. lol

Imagine Douglas was counted out and Tyson won by KO.

*NONE* of these clowns would run their mouth today that Tyson was out of shape and "not in the right place" mentally. It would be business as usual "Mike is the greatest, unstoppable machine".

But their hero got knocked the F out. So the excuses are coming in: "He wasn't in shape" "He didn't train" bla bla bla :rofl:rofl:rofl

Except the fighter is going to get up to the referees count. Douglas got up when he did because that was the count. Tyson was the only one KOd that night.

A referee's 10 count though. Not sure how a person takes 14 seconds to count 10 seconds, unless of course you're trying to count slow enough to purposely give the fighter a chance to get up. wonder if it would have been 20 seconds if buster took another 6 seconds to get up.

I'm pretty sure even the commentators were saying mike wasn't looking sharp during the fight and alluded to him not being in proper form.

it would have been interesting if referee would have waved the fight off. what would happen then? Does Tyson fight Douglas again? Holyfield. Could that escape lead tyson to reconsider leaving rooney?

to be honest i think it kinda saved tyson (prolonged his career). I think mike was done after spinks fight and had lost to Holyfield and bowe had he not been in prison then there is lennox who like evander allways had this obsession of beating Tyson.

Doubt it. Tyson would still be criticized for a poor performance. Even in Victory against Botha, people still to this day admit he was being thoroughly outboxed and beaten prior to that one big shot to the face.
