He quit and the question should be why? he looked mentally gone after the 6th or 7th round when he was hit with Postol's head .He said his vision was compromised and he tought he would have retinal detachment or something like that and he preferred just to keep his eyes .In my opiniion since his fight with garcia he had been always more concerned about his eye than the guy he had in front(Molina and Postol) .If he pretends to protect his eyes so much he should retire because he will get hit in the eye everytime he steps into the ring.

 

Postol was hitting him repeatedly AT WILL. Accurate, heavy volume punching can cause allot of damage, even if you are feather fisted.

Wonder if Matthysse was on the juice, earlier in his career, or was using loaded wraps. Three years ago nobody would have guessed a stiff, unathletic and somewhat primitively styled guy like Postol would bust him up and make him quit. Three years ago, Matthysse would have destroyed a guy like Postol.

 

Nah, it would've been the same. I think someone brought up how Matthysse fought against someone tall is his fight with John Molina Jr.

 

The only person (last night) that knows the seriousness of the eye is Lucas. I give him the benefit of the doubt. Have never thought a fighter, any fighter, owes keyboard warriors their life and health. He has stepped into the ring how many times and fought hard?
