Ali couldn't see in his first fight against Liston and he fought on like a champion and kept his ass in the ring.

Matthysse on the other hand, is no ALI.

Let's say theoretically that you're right and Matthysse had trouble seeing out of his eyes.

Look what Ali did when he was blind and couldn't see, he continued fighting. That's the difference between Ali and Matthysse.

And look at Ali now... Yes, some fight on with grave injuries but not everyone is that brave or reckless, some wish to preserve their health. That doesn't mean they're cowards or quitters if they have a legitimate health related reason for doing so.

I never blamed him for quitting, I'm just saying that he's no Ali.

When the going gets tough, Matthysse isn't the kind of guy who will fight on. That much is CLEAR. I think we can all agree with that.

Ain't no one believes in that B.S eye excuse, he uses it every time he loses. Ain't no one wants to hear that ****, especially not in a world title bout.

    :patsch

I dont blame him for quitting. If he really has health issues with his left eye, then he did the right thing to do. A world championship (for me, that's personal) is not worth an eye, specially today when belts mean next to nothing.

BUT, I blame him for fighting with health issues in his left eye. You need to be professional, and responsible, if your left eye socket is so heavily damaged that you will be in a position where you will have to quit vs a soft puncher, then you shouldnt have continued fighting.

I don't know man, he's been in many tough goings and didn't quit. If the going gets tough to a point it may seriously put his health at risk he won't fight on I guess, some people do but he's not one of them.

    That's all I'm saying.

But I seriously don't think it was an eye injury. Did he say anything about it in the corner starting from r7?

I don't think he did. He started getting beat up from r7 and I think the fact that he was so frustrated and taking so much punishment were the main reasons for him not wanting to fight on.

    No

Lucas has been in many tough fights and never quit so for him to quit for the first time means he must of been really worried for his eye.

He wasn't worried about it when his eye was beaten to a pulp by DSG. His eye looked completely messed up in that fight and he fought on.

It was the fact that he was getting embarrassed badly and getting beat up.

    You hate him so much:lol:

You use to make threads about the importance of fighters putting their health first.

When you go blind in the ring it makes you think very hard he must of thought he would of gone blind.

I don't hate anyone, I'm just saying that there's probably nothing wrong with his eye like he claims. It's an excuse.

I never ripped on him for quitting. I'm just saying that he needs to stop giving excuses.

If he's going to use that eye excuse, why didn't he quit against DSG then for that reason?

His eye in the DSG fight was probably much much worse. Did you see it? :-(

99% it was because he was spent and was getting beat up by Postol.

It was his eye Lucas just does not give up look at his past fights prove this.

its very scary thought when you go blind in the ring
