Was just watching Matthew Saad Muhammad - Kates. MSM was in no shape to continue after the knockdown at the end of the fourth. Another that comes to mind is Bruce Curry - Wilfred Benitez.

    Jorge Castro against JD Jackson.
Bobby Chacon in the Boza Edwards rematch (based to cuts).
Victor Galindez in the first Kates fight (again due to cuts).

Sean O'Grady had at least one fight where he looked like a human tampon (I forget the opponent), but IIRC, his father was the promoter and/or the ringside physician was a family friend, and they allowed the fight to continue until O'Grady had knocked his man out.

I'm guessing Yvon Durelle? And wasn't he Canadian? Maybe French-Canadian.

McClellan-Benn. Too lazy to check youtube but Benn was knocked down and fell through the ropes and barely beat the count.

Dempsey - Firpo could have been stopped numerous times or Dempsey could have been disqualified.

I thought the Bowe corner should have thrown in the towel against Golata both times. Save the fighter & those types of beatings don't help a fighter 1 iota. They ruin a guy.
Especially the second fight since it was obvious early their guy had nothing to deal with the opponent. All he could do was absorb. That's one of the responsibilites of a good corner.

    Izon-Jefferson

It was like Homer Simpson, Izon winning because Jefferson just punched himself out by beating up on Izon so bad.

Even Larry Merchant was calling for a stoppage

Saad got up as the bell rang and recovered between rounds

I don't think it should have been stopped.

Benitez was hurt, but wasn't defenseless.

I think a better example of a comeback fight that should have been stopped was Marvis Frazier/James Tillis.

Tillis hurt Frazier midway through the second round and poured in unanswered punches. Referee Joey Curtis stepped in and gave
Frazier a standing 8 count. This saved Frazier from an almost certain ko defeat.

Almost every fight Thompson was in, particulary Rothman and Haye.

I agree that Bowe-Golota, both fights, should have been stopped. Especially the second one.
