Are Jermain Taylor's wins over Hopkins underrated?

They are very good wins and yes they are underrated and overlooked at times. Especially when Hopkins rebounded and beat Tarver,Pavlik and Wright.

 

Very good wins indeed, though I scored the first one for Hopkins but they were both close...

I honestly expected a little more out of Taylor after beating Hopkins.

 

Yeah he didn't look that good against Winky and Spinks regardless of the draw and SD. Then came the brutal KO at the hands of Kelly Pavlik. He was never the same after that fight. Getting pummeled in a corner until your slumped over can cause permanent damage in many areas of his game.

 

With an AK-47? lol

 

Not sure if they are underrated. He gets plenty of credit for them, although both were debated.

 

Hopkins got robbed, twice.

 

He arguably beat Hopkins that's why he doesn't get as much credit as he should.

 

BHop has been an HBO darling for years, and they don't like to bring up his losses to JT and others (Calzaghe, Kovalev, etc) because it would tarnish his halo. So yeah, JT nowadays is only known for brutal Ko's by Pavlik and Abraham and Froch (did I leave anyone out?) and his mental issues.

 

I thought Bernard won.....But the fact that he took it to Bernard like no one had since Echols and fought him on even terms is seriously overlooked.

 

Jermain Taylor in general is underrated. What a terrific fighter he was.

 

I'd agree with that. He was also a massive disappointment.
