Would the extra 4 pounds make a difference? This is the only fight that is even somewhat interesting for Floyd.Perhaps the size difference could bother Floyd more this time around? Maybe alvarez wouldn't have to him flush to have an effect on him?

Not a huge difference I think. He's still a little flat footed and slow so speed might be key for May to win again.

Weight had jack to do with it, Canelo just isn't that good a fighter. End of.

    Floyd dismantled him

Floyd destroys any man from 147-160. Only SOG at 168 would give him troubles. But Floyd MIGHT even win that.

Well the Light Middleweight Limit is 154. I don’t think 156 would work, even if Canelo beats Cotto. The 154 titles were what were on the line in Canelo vs Floyd I. The whole reason why we want to see the fight at 154 is because Floyd didn’t defend his 154-lb titles after the majority decision with the 152 catchweight.

If Canelo were to beat Cotto, then he would be Middleweight champ, but Canelo vs Floyd II at 154 for the Light Middleweight titles would be huge. Canelo shouldn’t have a problem making 154 if a fight with Floyd were to be made in the future. Floyd requiring Canelo to have to make 152 in the first fight set a bad precedent about catch weights that is becoming far too common in boxing.

For title fights, especially unification fights where both guys already hold a title in a division, there should never be a catchweight. The fact that there was that catchweight and that it was only a majority decision is why many people still consider Canelo undefeated and why there is a real need for a rematch.

A rematch in Texas at 154 in a football / baseball stadium would do wonders for the sport and for Floyd’s legacy. I doubt Floyd would ever fight outside of Vegas though, but a rematch at 154 for the LMW titles in Vegas at the new arena next year would be fantastic too. The ball is in Floyd’s court. He can cement his legacy by proving he can beat Canelo or we will always wonder “what would have happened had Floyd fought Canelo at the normal 154 and not needed a catchweight vs Canelo”.

Floyd made such a big deal about how Pacquiao drained Cotto and how Cotto wasn’t 100% and how Floyd still considered Cotto and undefeated fighter so if Floyd is a man of his word then he should have treated Canelo the same as he did Cotto.

no offense MVC, but I could see Ward hurting Floyd badly at 168 as good as Floyd is. He is a bit too small for that weight IMO. Well he is too small for Ward at that weight I should say, lol.

However, on a more realistic tone as good as Floyd was he should of moved up to 160 to test himself these last years. A super mega fight with GGG would of been the biggest fight ever. Floyd is one of the best ever and that would of been just 6lbs above the limit he was already dominating. Its possible that Floyds pure boxing skills are/were so good he would of cleared 160 and gone down as the best boxer ever in everybodys minds rather than only a few.

Just a thought MVC, don't call me a hater, I am not hating on Floyd I am saying he is so good I think he could of accomplished more, not that he cares, lol, just saying that's how good of a pure boxer he is/was.

yes bad match up for Floyd, obviously the size difference is a bad match up,,, Wards strength armed with Wards speed would be a whole new kettle of fish for Floyd if he ever had faced Ward.

no need for that fight anyways, all the bigger more fairer match ups for Floyd were at 160 and he didn't want any part of that weight/size either,,,

no offense to him, just saying :bbb

Floyd beats him every time at any weight... to me the first fight wasn't even competitive enough for a rematch!

It's not like anybody thought it was. Any sane person anyway. That judge that scored it a draw should be banned from boxing forever
