So if Wlad beats Fury would you consider him the best HW then?

K2 threatened to walk away if Wlad had to under go drug testing. Bonte was very vocal about their conditions being met before the fight.
Their own ref was obviously one of them.

Bashir gave an interview to Ingram Jones after the fight and said Povetkin and his team didn't have a clue what they were doing. Wlad had to locked up in a safe house within the Cremlin after the fight and then air lifted back to Germany.

If you're defending that performance , then go rewatch all 36 mins of it. I dare you.

    Dino,

Which round if any did you give to Povetkin in his fight with Wlad?

Like I said keep posting, your intentionally funny and undermine any serious criticism that Wlad may deserve. I am a fan of yours for that reason.

Wlad won at least 10 of the 12 rounds clean and had three knockdowns scored.

Povetkin dove into him a few times. There are better ways to avoid clinches you know. Punch on the way in, stay at mid range to take a punch, then attack back.

But after some crushing blows, Povetkin knew that type of strategy would get him stopped. He had to pick his shots. After the fight Povetkin had no excuses and simply said he beat me.

I didn't give him any rounds. How can you box when a guy is using his size advantage to pile drive you into the canvas?

85% of that whole fight was illegal fouling. It wasn't a boxing match.

Povetkin could do nothing , since Wlad was even reaching out and grabbing him at mid range. He didn't even fully get inside and he was getting head locked.
Proof of that is in the first 10 seconds. Rewatch and tell me if i'm lying?
That was the best opponent on Wlads record so that tells me Wlad is a fraud.
If he was forbidden from holding , he wouldn't be champ today.

Look what happened to John Ruiz when he was forbidden from holding and clinching... He got out boxed by a 180 ponder with a HW record of 0-0-0.
The same would happen with Wlad.

Throw more punches, move around to avoid a clinch, block a clinch with your arms, hit with your free hand when being held, Use an uppercut, etc..

BS! Wlad threw 419 punches. That is enough action and landed 139 of them.

Povetkin only threw 283 punches and landed just 59 of them.

Wrong, he could have risked more. Plans change once Wlad hits.

The styles of the two are going to produce more clinches than usual.

Look , the man clearly trained for a grappling contest. Wlad is methodical and by the book. He wouldn't perform like that on the fly.

Look at 1:08 here. Wlad actually tries to lift himself off his feet to get his full body weight down on Povetkins back.

Look at the length of the video:-(

You couldn't put a video like that together on any HW champ in history.

If i'm allowed to enter all my class into a universally recognised exam that guarantees they get an A* in maths, I'm gonna do it.

People play to their strengths and bend the rules in their favour.

Wlad is a strong lanky ****. If referees let him exploit that of course he will.

It's crazy really cos it took him a while to become a grab expert. In peter 1 it was a survival tactic. Think it was brock the first time he needlessly started grabbing. Would be an interesting division if he'd have been deducted points that night.

One man was trying to fight the other wasn't, and the referee aided and abetted the latter.

    a horrible fight.

Would be so easy for the ref to give many warnings and take many points.

What I liked was that on the Ali/Wlad thread some posters said that "Ali will clinch Wlad and tire him out".

    :rofl:nut uh, no.

    Sadly, no.

I hate Wlad's clinching especially because he is an exciting fighter when he lets his hands go. :bbb But what can you do? If refs let him do it then he will do it. I guess that's boxing.

yeah every once in a while i like to feel a bit sorry for Dino just to see what it feels like

Nobody i have seen is going to out clinch Vlad, Ali included. I don't think he is a cheater by any means. Part of why its such a problem is because he is such a strong clincher which isn't his fault. I have simply seen too many times whereby the ref should start giving him warnings to keep it as fair as possible. But yes that it boxing, i agree :bbb

Ya know, I believe Wald if he wanted to could really nail someone with an uppercut, especially if his opponent expects a clinch and comes in with his head down.

I do not think it would be too difficult for him to pull this off. If could even be a low hook hybrid type of uppercut. Imagine if he added that to his game. WOW.

Wlad doesn't throw the uppercut or go to the body at all at least outside of the Gym he doesn't. He is such a tremendous athlete I'm sure he could but he doesn't risk it. He sticks to his bread and butter like any great fighter should. He has an all time great jab, an all time great straight right hand and an all time great left hook. He controls the range and because he's not a good inside fighter once an opponent gets inside he locks them up with an all time clinch. It makes for some boring fights from time to time but it's a smart strategy that has been working for over a decade of complete dominance.
