Williams wasn't even ranked but Ali fought him knowing hes impaired to well....Mildenberger was number 8 ,he gets a shot....etc...etc.... At the TIME of when he fights his opponets it seems he pickes them on a down slide! He diodnt even get near Spencer because they knew he had beat very good fighters in 3 fights ,go figure that one out? See all you guys can make Ali the glamour boy here,except I post actual FACTS not hype! Alis resume as stated one of the weakest ive ever dseen in the 60's,yet hes unbeatable by not fighting the guys he should be...He didn't even fight Bonevena till 70 and Quarry until 71.... YES THIS IS AN INTERESTING THREAD ON ALIS OPPONENTS ISNT IT? Out of prime Liston is his best win and even that should have a asterix on it! He gets great credit for 200 pound Folley who had to wait 10 years to get a title shot though...... He even fought guys like Brian London with a 45 % k.o percentage who beat folley after Ali did,where was London ranked at that time?............:naughty

Your obsession with denigrating Ali and his opponents really is worrying, it must take up every minute of your spare time, you really need to get a life, and all because the general consensus is that Ali is greater than Wlad.
Your rankings wherever they came from are December 1967 Ali was beginning his suspension then between then and '70 he couldn't have fought any of them anyway, if he could have, all that would have happened is he would have cleaned them all up earlier!
You do realise he beat 6 of those 10 guys?

And really you're talking about a fighter who from 1960 until 1981 fought every top fighter and contender he could some 2 and 3 times and ducked absolutely no one, oh sorry, obviously apart from the legendary Thad Spencer!

 

The rankings are a CLEAR blueprint who was at the top,no foolish poster will change that,nor anyone trying to supe up ANYONES record...I don't know of ANY elite fighter who didn't fight the number one guy, specially in a 60's era where fighters were not hard to pick in comparison with the confusion of today,do you? NOPE

Anyone can still put alis resume above the list ,its still decent,however if we included real IMPORTANT factors with it,which I DID,it changes the views of it to more of where a person ranks him moseso than the opponets he fought WHEN they were important! Showing a certain year and level of opponent is not TWISTING anything,all you do is post twilight zone b.s on here! :shock:

You see you are twisting things again. Ali was suspended in April of '67,Spencer wasn't made number 1 until the end of that year, Ali simply couldn't have fought him while he was number 1 ranked.
Spencer had his opportunity in the elimination tournament and was stopped by Quarry.
Talking of resumes you do realise Ali beat 7 of those 8 fighters in that tournament, yet you continue to pick him apart.
Without the ban the chances are he would have taken care of Spencer, Ellis, Bonavena, Quarry and Frazier in 67,68 and 69 although quite reasonably people would still have given Smokin Joe a shot of still beating him.

 

It wasn't who he beat it was so much WHEN he beat them that's the problem with scenile posters,ones who cant add...in other words put two and two together....

Once again you're twisting the facts. Quarry had just became ranked in mid '67 he was only 21 Ali was already banned from boxing do you not get it? Also you do know that at the time of his ban Ali was in negotiations with Thad Spencer but couldn't go through with the fight because of the ban? You actually do know that Ali couldn't fight anyone between April '67 and October '70? You do know this don't you because with this ridiculous argument I have my doubts!
So our judgment of Ali should rely on an obscure quote from Rocky Marciano? You really are clutching at straws in your crusade to denigrate a man who's only crime in your eyes is that most people have him above your beloved Wlad in the ATG rankings.

Quarry was the better fighter,you are the one TRYING to make an excuse why ali did NOT fight top ranked guys over the lower ones! I also think his ban saved him from a few Frazier losses in those years,so don't try and sell me B.S,specially when his resume has nothing to do with his ban in REAL life when he was ACTUALLY fighting.


Basically it boils down to you are an Antenna T.v,in comparison I am a high def one! Im not even sure if your t.v works....
