Just saw on Reece Mcfaddens twitter a retweet of Kieran Smith... it says '' scottish boxers never get their fair share of the cake to go to the Olympics,Reece Mcfadden has beaten them all, things have gotta change''

    So true!
Mcfadden beat all the Gb boxers in his weight Andrew Selby, Jack Bateson and Charlie Edwards... it's crazy and corrupt that hes not part of the Gb squad. Charlie Flynn won the commonwealths beating Joe Cordina along the way, and he never even got a phonecall from GB.

well in fairness Mohammed Ali is very good . and they still might get there chance because ali and cordina got knocked out of the world and havnt qualified for the Olympics so they still might get a chance

Mcfadden is very good .. ali stepped up from the youths into the seniors outta nowhere..he hadnt proved himself as a senior, seems there was some bias going on. I think beating all 3 senior Gb boxers at the time who were at your weight should definately get you in the squad... If you asked the Gb bosses they wouldn"t be able to even explain it theyd probably duck the question.. Mcfadden should just turn pro now and **** GB

was a great youth though and has proved himself very able on the international scene since but I agree reese should have got his chance.

but its there decision and ali shows and had shown great promise

Ok but i would have expected selby , mcfadden and probably Bateson too...to have medalled at this world championships, ali has failed.

all depends on the draw, ali lost basically due to getting a cut so its unfair to complain, he would have won imo if he didn't get cut

Selby on current form wouldn't have medaled at all,and all the rest wouldn't have medaled imo unless they got a very favourable draw

On current form means nothing when you have downed tools, he would have skelped any 52 out there whilst he was still focused.

before he downed tools his form wouldn't have seen him medal, he lost to mcffadden and the guy who beat him black and blue in he wsb didn't even medal

I personally think he had downed tools before the Commonwealth games, it can be hard to get out of a GB contract without having to pay back a part of the funding and imo he has used this sudden drop in form to help get out of it. Not taking anything away from Reece McFadden he has really upped his game.

im no know it all but towards the end of selbys amateur career his form went in the toilet. Its weird how im now being accused of sticking up for ali(an English fighter) when I made my amateur rankings I was accused of being bias against English fighters because I didn't have Anthony Fowler in my top 10 even though his form that year had been terrible

I also got stick for having Michael o'reilly ranked number 2 in my rankings, the guy said he shouldn't even be top 10.

fact is I think it is unfair that ali got the spot straight away which I agree with you with but maybe gb see his potential and want to develop him( I think his got great potential) so they made a valid pick

however I do think there is a anti Scottish aspect to gb. At youth level Hutchinson at 75kg and Lavezzeri at 81kg are stand outs for Scotland. However I don't think gb would put lavezzeri straight in as there number 1 ahead of buatsi(whos terrible) which would be a mirror situation

if that's correct than fair enough but them poor performances must have affected his pro offers. I mean getting battered and stopped in the wsb doesn't exactly excite promoters. If that's the case I could see him having a problem with dedication in the pros

Selby beats McFadden with ease 99 out of 100 IMO, he got him on a freak occurrence off day and now every scot involved in am boxing thinks he's the second coming.

i agree with this, the gumshield thing and everything its a bit of a joke

I think gb saw that ali has huge potential and was there best hope for rio already and made a call on it

however I don't think they would make the same call if it was a Scottish boxer in that position. If they did id kick buatsi out and put in lavezzeri and Hutchinson at 75kg instead of Williamson in the last tournament
