I think this is a gross exaggeration.

    1. Ward and Joe fought nothing alike.

    2. Emotions would have run high at the press conference, weigh in and in the ring, and there could have been a macho tear up.

    3. As above. Also, Joe was caught by lesser fighters than Carl.

    4. If Salem, Mitchell, Hopkins and Roy could drop Joe and win rounds, then Carl would certainly have had a chance to replicate that.

I agree about Taylor, but as the old saying goes 'styles make fights'

    Picture the scene:

There'd have taunted each other at the press conference.

They'd have had to have been separated at the weigh in.

They'd have taunted each other in the fight, and there's a huge chance that Carl could have lured him into a shoot out instead of a boxing match.

There'd have been two huge egos, fighting with pride, in front of thousands of screaming fans, in an electric atmosphere.

The fight would have been nothing like the Ward and Taylor fights in my opinion.

When emotions run high, anything can happen.

I'm absolutely convinced that Joe would have won, but it wouldn't have been easy. I think there would have been similarities with the fight that Joe had with Robin Reid.

    No chance.

Joe had trouble with lesser fighters than Carl.

I think it would have been closer.

On paper, a composed version of Joe comfortably beats him. But in an all British grudge match with emotions running high, the composure would have gone out of the window in my opinion.

I see this fight being similar to Calzaghe/Kessler. Close for the first few rounds, Calzaghe pulling away on workrate in the later rounds. Only difference is that Froch tends to come on strong in the later rounds so it would be closer on the cards.

I'd still expect Calzaghe to win nine times out of ten.

I would have to agree, Calzaghe had a macho streak about him whenever he was tagged and liked to reply with interest which I'm not sure is the best idea vs Froch.

My prediction would be that Calzaghe wins this fight 9 times out of 10 but in that one fight gets sloppy and gets caught with a big Froch powershot.

Different league of fighter though. Calzaghe vs Ward I would have liked to have seen, I give the edge to Joe but you never know.

    Good points.

I can't really decide on a Joe vs Ward fight. I can envisage both guys winning. So I'm on the fence. It would have been an intriguing clash of styles. It's a shame we can't see it.

Calzaghe destroys him on points. Froch has no boxing ability just an iron chin, calzaghe would toy with him for 12 rounds

If Joe was in a bad mood, he'd TKO Froch in round 11. Froch has never had the discipline or the tools to beat the master craftsman.
