toney never had a real great perfomance at 175 imo, so i'd pick tarver over any real lhw toney. a theoretical perfect 175 toney should be the favorite tho.
He didn't exactly get it done against Griffin either. Tarver leaves very little to counter and is extremely well schooled. His downfall was guys who could outwork him, although I think he got jobbed in the first Johnson fight.
Hopkins countered the sh*t out of Tarver, at his first fight at 175. Toney would make it look easy when ready. Sorry.
The worst night of Tarver's career was against an ATG. Toney's worst night was against some guy. If you're gonna use the Toney wasn't prepared excuse, then the same holds true for Tarver against Hopkins.
Tarver was mega motivated as a LHW with everything to prove and nothing to lose. Toney was spending the best part of a decade as an obsolete LHW fighter. Tarver would take it on points, no doubt.
Pfft, ok. You said Tarver leaves little to be countered. An old Hopkins, coming off 2 straight losses AND sniffing 175 FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME, that's 15 lbs. heavier than his prime fighting weight. I can make the same excuses for Hopkins as you just did for Tarver. Toney pees all over Tarver
