C00ney via TKO. C00ney was a fair boxer who had huge advantages in size, power, and reach. Braddock essentially was a good journeyman who won the title from a very apathetic Max Baer. Braddock was small, limited in ability and power, and not very fast.
The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to agreeing with you.. Larry Holmes was several levels above Braddock in boxing ability and still he had to dig deep and lost a few rounds before finally breaking C00ney down. I can't see Jimmy outclassing Gerry like that.. And Max Baer wasn't 6'7", 225 lbs either. In fact he was likely one of the crudest sluggers I've ever seen on film.
Braddock was so game and tough he is hard to dismiss. But I think Gerry's size and power would take him out early. But, Jim was tough and he feared no man.
Which is why he never had to fight Page and Dokes, Jones and Rappaport knew the deal. Gerry would stop Braddock in the fourth, however.
And the newbie criteria is "black and white film is yucky, plus they fought soooo long ago and newer is better automatically"...
Because the first 4 letters of his name denotes a racial slur to the knee jerk politically correct...and you wanna know why you can't post Richard Ihetu's ring name?
