It would really depend how fit and determined Liston was. If we’re talking pre-Ali Liston then I think he could cause either Klitschko some problems.

A discouraged Liston following his losses to Ali with a possible shoulder injury probably wouldn’t be able to win this fight.

I think Vitali would frustrate him and win a decision or get a late tko.

Vitali's hands down style would be a major issue against Liston.

Hasim Rahman similar but wasn't a quarter of what Liston was and Vitali didn't seem to want any part of Hasim Rahman

I simply can't think of a way a prime Liston loses, unless he was " TOLD " to lose by the people he associated with. One was a class fighter, and the other is a manufactured Kleechko, from communistville. There can be no comparison, surely?

I'm really sorry, but I am totally confused here. I look at Liston ( even when he was getting old ) then I look at the completely robotic, stiff as washboards Kleechko's, and I am really struggling to equate the fighter, with the robots. Perhaps it is me.

Do you honestly believe that, Foxy? Or is that a wind up?

Liston missed Ali badly, and could not track down and take out Machen who was competitive with Liston. This shows he had trouble with fighters who can move and neither Ali ( who shook Liston up in the first fight ) or Machen ( Who frustrated Liston to the point where Liston threw low blows ) did not hit on Vitali's level

Vitali is hard to catch cleanly and would have a big height advantage, which shortens Liston's reach. Vitali forces his opponents to confront his advantages as well as anyone.

In addition, Liston had some swelling and cuts issues in many fights, as well as some fouls and quit in him if the fight was not going his way.

I'll take Dr Robotschko. Hard to hit clean, terrific chin even if you do ... coupled with a solid, accurate punch and high workrate. Liston may look good early on but Vitali stops him late.

With a torn shoulder when his arm went numb, yes. Liston quit without a known injury. HUGE difference.

Liston lost to Marty Marshal and was out cold for over 60 seconds vs Leotis Martin. What happens when Vitali lands? How good was Sonny's punch resistance? Cleveland Williams cut him, but he had the chin of an English teacup and did not last long enough to test Liston's durability.

Patterson was scared and did not last long in either fight.

Liston never fought anyone close to Vitali, and as mentioned he was visibly rocked by a young Ali. If you think the second fight is on the level, Ali hurt Liston ( reverse angle showed the punch landed ) and Sonny opted to stay down.

Actually I think Vitali beat better fighters in a head to head sense. Liston's opponents were mostly small and overmatched

Liston would need to end it early. That's not happening.
