Canelo reportedly weighed 174 lbs the night of the fight for his fight against Angulo. Did he look artificially bloated to you in the ring? (looked pretty shredded to me). Smaller than Hamsho, who weighed in at 158 the morning of his fight against Benitez? Why are you so resistant to the idea that he's more or less the same size as Hamsho? I don't think that the move from same-day to day-before weigh-ins made much of a difference for many fighters but Canelo is clearly one of the top examples of a fighter who could not have made his current weight-class in the same-day era without taking serious health risks.
Jones regularly gets putted against HW fighters. Benitez fought Hamsho, there have been a lot of comparisons between Benitez and Floyd lately and this is one of Wilfred's worst performances so it stands to reason s comparison can be made.
Jones once fought the heavyweight champion and tried to fight others; Mayweather never fought at middleweight. Irony is that while I suspect that this comparison was meant to make Benitez look better, it does the opposite for me. The smaller Mayweather would have given Hamsho a much more competitive fight, imo.
Can't argue against that. But then again this was Benitez on his way down. By this time, he was a shadow of his former self.
The person I quoted mentioned Jones. But bear in mind Floyd has beaten the current MW champ and would be favoured in a rematch. Mayweather being more competitive against Hamsho in a fantasy fight does nothing to detract from the career of Benitez imo.
So what are we saying here? You want a same day weigh in Hamsho, fighting a previous day weigh in Mayweather? Lets make it really fair and say Hamsho, has to weigh in and go on a 5 mile run, whilst Mayweather does exactly as he likes. It is fukking moronic. Mayweather can punch Hamsho as hard, and as often as his scrawny little arms allow him to, but Mustafa will just bull through those shots, and as light hitting as he might be at Middle, his shots will hurt Mayweather.
Really? I must have missed those threads. I remember him getting untold praise for fighting possibly the worst WBA champion EVER in Ruiz, and by Loudon who is convinced Jones seriously wanted to fight Tyson, Lewis, and Holyfield ( in much the same way I seriously WANT to fuk Miss World ) but that is about it.
