After today's win it was confirmed that Ugonoh is going to fight in early 2016 in Poland, probably against some Polish HW. One of the journalists suggested three names: Wawrzyk (for me it's unlikely, he moved to US and is still hoping for getting a shot at Wilder), Zimnoch (he was supposed to fight Szpilka at some point & beat Wilder before turning pro, but he is coming back this Saturday after two year layoff due to injury) and Kolodziej (Polish cruiser who was badly beaten by Lebedev and will be back in HW). Still: fighting anyone from this group will tell us more about Ugonoh than all of his fights to this day.

That's good news, but I still think he needs a couple of fights with decent journeymen before those guys.

Would you really consider his last 3 a "step up in class"?

Personally I think Wilder would only need to be hit once by Parker to be sleeping.. Meehan's chin even at 45 is far better than Wilders..

The only real issue I see with Parker is his willingness to trade and take shots to give them back.

He got tagged by Meehan and when he steps up in class those tags could be good night...

IT is ok for Wilder to throw windmills as he will only fight cans who can't hit back..

In good shape? The guy was 280lbs, 35lbs heavier than his Dad who is the same height and 45 years old.

Otherwise agree, but he is a seriously talented rugby league player (the size comes in very handy there although again I think 260ish is probably a better weight for that) so he might end up being no more than a Sonny Bill Williams-esque part-timer. He is friends with SBW and has talked about going down the same path.

It's more muscle than fat.... He could slim down a bit, but it's not like he's carrying a ton of flab or anything. He's just a really big, and bulky guy. As you said, expected considering his a rugby guy. But I just think that he's naturally that way to some degree as well.

Dan Rafael wrote that Ortiz might be fighting on HBO on Dec 19 with Nicholas Walters on the undercard.

    And had snail slow offense.

Parker looks like a young Wlad Klitschko minus the stamina issues and early fight loose legs.

    This kid would annihilate Wilder.

    Parker KO3 Wilder.

Soon as Wilder tries to mount a real offense.

Oh for sure, he's a big guy and not really comparable to some of the straight-up fat guys you see in the heavyweight ranks.

However I still think it's pretty obvious that 6'5" 280lb is not really ideal if you want to be in the upper echelons of the sport. Also, a lot of rugby players who have a go at boxing tend to lose weight when they prepare for boxing. A good example is actually my username Manu Vatuvei. He is another really big guy who used to play at around 250, but slimmed all the way down to 229lb (which I found almost unbelievable for a guy his size) just for a one-off charity fight.

For a guy who just turned 20 and has every reason to be serious about his preparation in two sports requiring a high level of fitness and stamina I just find it a little concerning that Willis is probably 30lbs above what I would consider to be an absolutely perfect, lean and mean fighting weight. Really, 260-265 is probably an absolute limit to be right at the top as a rugby league player and for boxing he should be even lighter. I know he doesn't look BAD but when I saw him at the weigh-in I immediately noticed and was surprised at how tubby he looked.

Anyway, way too much rambling about something so inconsequential, sorry just a bit of a pet subject for me.

I liked how Willis had a go at the ref for not stepping in. He was amped, but still had concern for his fellow boxer.
Looks like a natural, but got into trouble for being an "enforcer" for a gang, and got sacked from his league team.
50/50 for me - he could just be another wasted talent who thinks the world owes him something.
I hope he makes the right choices and realises his talents

Thing with Willis,he keeps his hands low when he feels safe only because of his stamina isues, that was problem for Parker in the past.

Izu Ugonoh looks pretty poor overall. His chin isn't too strong,in times he fights scared and he has slow feet.I don't see him winning meaningful title in the future.
