Hey guys just a quick question. I been sparring off and on for the last while.. Thing is I don't utilize a lot of head movement when throwing combo's.... and most of the time I am quick enough not to get countered too badly. However there were a few times when I got hit when I shouldn't have. By more experienced counter punchers or boxer/puncher types with long reach. Guys who took advantage of my lack of head movement. I would usually throw quick rapid fire 1-2 combo's like Pacquiao without moving my head in the past. Bad habit I developed Thing is..... when I actually do focus mitts with my Coach I DO move my head........... but when I am sparring it's not the case. Head movement just doesn't feel natural to me. However I would like to work on it. If I been boxing off/on for the last few years... and am used to sparring with little to no head movement...... What are the chances of changing this?? Or is the bad habit so ingrained that it will be hard to fix? Thanks
Once you understand, its the body that moves the head, and not the head moving the body. You will be on the way to improving your problem.
How's does someone use that? That's as bad as saying the body moves the hands and not the other way around. You can move fingers w/out moving the palms of your hands. Obviously one can move the head without moving the shoulders. As one poster said take what this guy says with a pinch of salt.
Peek-a-boo cus d'amato bending at the sides laterally. Never heard of it! Can't say that I've trained for days on end on the extended speed bag moving my head from side to side either. No idea about the peek-a-boo. Prefer to turn my chin as the right cross is coming through.check Freddie roach defensive drills. Are we going to friends?
I'm not talking about the peek-a-boo. If you box you would know what I'm talking about. It feels natural to most people but not to this guy and I think what he's doing wrong is the technique. When you through the 1-2, you step forward with the jab and shiftyour weight onto your front foot with the right cross. As you shift your weight, your head moves along with your body.
Absolutely mate! I thought you were talking about s****, who puts his head by his right knee with both heels elevated. Then punching by turning on the heels of his feet counter-clockwise all done with his heels up. Sorry mate about that. Yes I've trained the peek-a-boo number system didn't like it since the stance was a bit wide. Also got hit a lot from being to squared up. However it does work well on the inside which is why iron mike did so well. Nothin against the cus or his style.
No axel Schulz was not your fighter! That I've checked into even though in the past you've claimed him as one of your champs.
never said schulz was trained by me said one of my boxers boxed him. Youre not taking any substance, are you . Heres one heavy i worked with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z7EuZS196c
When it comes to claiming to train someone, If you don't have any proof other than your word then it didn't happen especially on a boxing forum.
