I was left wondering if Selby was rather average on the night or Montiel was really underestimated.

I think it was a little bit of both, I think Selby wasn't as good as we've seen him and Montiel had a little more left than most people thought.

I suppose the most important thing was Selby got the win and can move on.

I think people have rushed to overrate Selby a bit

I'm astounded at how disrespectfully Fernando has had his achievements dismissed by lots of people in this thread. He's had a great career that only a total moron wouldn't be able to appreciate.

I certainly would not under appreciate montiel the guys been a legend but a legend at the lower weights. The size difference was laughable lee should of had an easier night he was getting caught left right and centre and montiel really exposed selbys bad defence. No one can say selbys an elite opertater after that fight. In fact i only really remember selby having 4 good fights whete you can say he looked really good. Whilst he is good hes also overrated. If hed of been in with any of the other top4 the other night hed of been outclassed imo

I agree, I will be honest though I hadn't seen Montiel for quite a while and knew he would be giving away, height, reach and probably weight on the night.

I didn't know just how much he had left but nobody can dismiss what has been a great career so far.

That's just Brixton, he is alright, but he is a man who believes Khan beats everybody but a three weight world champion like Montiel is a "no Mark".

Indeed. Selby had every conceivable advantage in a bout supposed to make his skills shine. They underestimated Montiel and against the odds he still managed to acquit himself well.

    'No-mark'... what a ****ing joke.

When will people learn? Brixton can't afford Sky. He's admitted this. He didn't watch the fight.

Yeah Brixton is normally a decent guy. Big blind spot towards Mexican lower weight guys though.
