Video link below is at the spot where De La Hoya makes his statement.

If ODLH is true to his spirit (after he ran down the "mayweather era") as a promoter, then I agree, this fight does have to happen. Particularly if Canelo defeats Cotto in their upcoming bout.

If Oscar wants to make it happen it will hapen, Canelo would step in the ring with GGG, that guy ducks no one. The fight will sell massive, really as he says, no reason not to make it happen.

That's exactly what Oscar said: Canelo wants the fight.

Man, I hope it happens. I want more action fights like tonight.

DLH just lost one of his fighters to GGG why would he throw Canelo in right after Cotto? There is a rematch clause and no guarantee the sanctioning body nwill enforce GGG's mandatory status.

    Because Canelo wants the fight.

But he didn't say it would happen right away. Just that it would happen.

Would love to see it and would be highly impressed of canelo if he was to take this fight soon.

If the Cotto vs Canelo winner chooses to vacate that belt rather than defend it against Golovkin, than that is a clear of a duck as you will see

if canelo beats cotto and there is a rematch clause then cotto should get the rematch meanwhile ggg could face lee-eubank winner, quillin-jacobs winner or he could make a mandatory defense against toureano .But ggg-canelo must happen in 2016 .

Nobody thinks Cotto will win, Cotto is average 154 and above.

I think his left hook could shake Canelo up.
I think Canelo will win, but it's a fight and sh*t happens

    What Canelo wants, Canelo gets.

Let's not forget, it was his choice to target fights GBP specifically didn't want him to take, like Lara. He despises the image of the protected money man and wants to be known as a warrior who fights all comers.

I have no doubts Alvarez wants the fight and would take it, even if Oscar is secretly wishing that weren't the case.

Canelo hasn't even campaigned yet at the full 160 lb limit. I don't see him stepping into the ring anytime soon to face the toughest guy at MW. Canelo is GBP's cashcow and I doubt they'd throw them in with Golovkin right now. Maybe in a year or 2 when/if Gennady starts to show his age.

Alvarez trained and sparred with GGG four or five years ago. By all accounts handled himself well. Both are much improved these days though.

I'd love to see it happen. GGG wants to clean up middleweight. Canelo wants the glory. Cool.
