Makes no sense since Ward offered to fight Triple G in 2016 after Triple G's fight on PPV. He's never once said he'll move up for a PPV fight. He has however maintained the fact he'll look to unify the titles at the MW division, which is fine. You can't run to 175 where the fighters are bigger and stronger and oh ya there is a guy named Kovalev who has a much better chance at beating Ward then Triple G. Ward wanted a neutral venue which he has every right to since he did school Froch in Atlantic City not in Oakland. Froch wanted the fight in Nottingham where he's from.
Shortly after the Ward vs Rodriguez fight when him and Gossenn were fighting in the courts Andre claimed that he wanted to fight but Dan wasn't offering him anything. After some research I found out that Ward was offered a fight against Anthony Dirrell at home in Oakland and he turned it down saying that it would be a step backward in his career. What makes DeGale remotely worthy of Ward's contemplation and decision to face him or not, when Ward is moving up a division and heading towards a clash with Kovalev? It's pointless for Ward to consider DeGale; not only because of there being bigger challenges for him at LHW but also, as previously stated, Ward would spank him every day of the week.
Then why did he only say Wembley. Why not ask for it at the 02? Fact is because nobody knows who Ward is over here, Nottingham is where it sells the most tickets. And with Ward's inflated price demands it needs as many tickets as possible. Spending a fortune on the overheads for Wembley and not selling many tickets is stupid. He didn't ONLY say Wembley, he said he wanted a neutral venue. Hearn even said that it was one of Ward's demands. As we saw Froch didn't want a fight against anyone since he led everyone for a month into thinking he'll fight Triple G, but retired like coward that he is. There have already been discussions talked about by Kathy Duva with Ward on fighting Kovalev in 2016. Triple G has said before he's willing to fight anyone from 154-168. Saying he would only fight at 154 for Floyd and Loeffler has said they won't fight Cotto a PPV star at 154 or a catch weight and it whoud have to be at 160. Also how is Ward not a PPV fight? Triple G fought an over matched Lemiuex who most thought would get KO'ed. Plus the fact he's never fought on PPV before and not even from the US.
DeGale is a Haymon fighter. Ward is with RocNation. This fight wouldn't happen if Ward was still at SMW
Ward has always been too big for SMW. He is not young anymore and can't cut so much weight. Easy as that.
