Kovalev v Mohammedi was a mando. It was not PPV and it continue to raise Kovalev's profile and will make future fights bigger.

Brook v Gavin was brought in at 5 weeks notice to save a card (that many on another thread called the best all round card of the year) after DeGale and Dirrell, and allowed two more world title fights to occur when it wouldn't have had without a PPV model. Brook won in convincing fashion against which will raise his profile in the UK and build towards what is aimed to be an eventual showdown with Khan at Wembley which will be big enough on both sides of the pond to make the winner into a huge star.

GGG continued to raise his profile (and Gonzalez and the undercard) against Munroe, to become a PPV fighter in hope of luring a name fighter into the ring. Plus beating Munroe allowed him to keep his spot as the mandatory to Cotto's title.

There is no rhyme or reason to most of the PBC stuff. It is producing a mediocre product due to a lack of competition and a large monopoly.

I agree, and even within its own stable the fights seem to be made at random. They don't build towards anything or achieve anything. In fact most of the fighters profiles since it was introduced have taken a hit or stood still

If this does well, expect much more 17-1 favourited fights from HBO involving Gennady/Chocolatito.
