His body language told the ref to stop the fight. Fighters usually look at the ref for one of 2 reasons. They complain about a foul or they want the ref to stop it. You want to keep fighting? Focus on the fighter in front of you, not the ref.

The stoppage was perfect, in my opinion.
David still has a good career in front of him, and didn't sustain a heavy beating.

For those saying bull stoppage, let me ask you this: do you reckon David could have lasted 4 and a half more rds ?

He was unable to keep away from GGG and his shots had not the same power as from the start.

He might have lasted 1 more rd, and got stopped in the 10, but at what price ?

Lemieux is near his prime, and has many more bouts to give to the sport.
Why have him beaten to a complete pulp before stopping it ?

Look at the pain, shock and confusion in Willis' eyes on the front page photo.

Like a lot of people mentioned here, the ref was looking for any excuse to stop it. He was making a cringe face in every single round the ugly mofo. Lemieux was throwing punches back at that last rally and even if he made a hurt face, it's part of the game.

David even said himself the stoppage was bs.

And don't think i'm against Golovkin cause a lot of people here jump on his ba lls immediatly.
i'm just a fight fan and the reality is that Golovkin was eating clear punches from time to time and even taking steps back. Something you don't see on GGG fights.

I agree. David was still breathing at the time of the stoppage. How dare the ref rob us, the most deserving, of the sight of a murder? SHAMEEE.

Golovkin was on his to knocking Lemieux out in that round, the body punch really hurt him, not to mention the head punches....................there is no way Lemieux could have made it to the end of the round, Lemieux was hurt...................look what happened to Colon and so many other fighters......................Lemieux was getting hurt in every round, Golovkin's jab is fantastic. Cotto/Alvarez winner will give up their titles rather than fight Golovkin.....................

After getting completely shut out for 7 rounds, David was really turning things around guys - he even landed a punch! The ref totally saved Golovkin.
