No. But, we can probably declare him the best at MW right now. I don't think he needs to do anything more at MW to prove that much. If certain fighters want to play keep away, that's not his fault. He will need to eventually move up to seek greater challenges.

I would say that it is a good idea to get that Lineal Title that Cotto and Canelo are fighting for, but yeah, there really is no real threats to him in the wieghtclass. Abel Sanchez even said no one at 154 or 160 can challenge or even go the distance with him. So my question is, then why stay there if your goal is to be the Best.

Very true. [emoji106] The lineal title is really the only reason to hang around. But, watch him have to wait another year or so to even sniff it. Canelo/Cotto might wind up being a trilogy.

I remember reading that it is mandatory for the winner to fight him, or relinquesh the belt. But I could be wrong.

Damn rushing to conclusions much? He's got soooo much more left to accomplish before he can be crowned GOAT. And even if he does it all, some people will still say Ali was the best because his image surpassed boxing and he FOUGHT* for his beliefs (civil rights; not going off to war because of his religious affiliation)

No boxer is "the best of all times". Each of the top 20 ATGs has his own pros and cons. To get to that top 20, Golovkin needs to unify MW belts and then move up and beat a couple of SMW champions. The best would be to have Ward move back to 168 and smash him.

legit opponents will determine his credibility. until he then it will be seen. he seems to be the unchallenged lineal champ at his division at the moment though.

poor troll bait thread (expected better from you timeout) but it's clear he's one of the ATG middleweights who could have competed with the best in any era

I've heard that too. I assume he really wants to fight the winner and get in on a substantial payout and be part of a huge event. I doubt he wants to get the belt the cheap way. I could see that happening though. Cotto has already milked the belt. If he wins, Canelo has b@lls enough to fight him, but, I don't think GBP will let that happen anytime soon. So, I see these guys rematching if the event does well and the fight is remotely competitive.

That's because you just started watching boxing yesterday. Jermain Taylor has a much better jab. Fast, hard and effective...
