First off, I hope Wlad wins and think he will. But I actually think this is a real interesting bout for him, that will challenge him in ways he hasn't been challenged before. And I could see an upset. This fight reminds me of Vitali/Lewis, Grant/Lewis, ****ey/Holmes and Ali/Liston. A much younger, larger challenger taking on a highly regarded champ. Wlad has never been against someone this much larger than him, particularly not with Fury's volume punching ability and relative speed. I don't think Fury's got the chin or discipline to cope with Wlad, but if he does, if he has a better chin than he's shown to this point (taking after Ali, who was regarded as chinny to that point in his career, and not Grant, who was proven to have the chin issues everyone suspected all along), then I think the size and workrate advantage for Fury will pose Wlad some real problems.
Wlad is 40 so now every challanger is the best in years . If that was prime wlad fighting Fury I'd say wlad by KO , but with wlad being old and past prime I give fury very good chance to win.
I rate Jennings and certainly Povetkin (much) higher, and about on par with Pulev. Why do these Brit challengers get so overrated around here?
In general Brits are delusional fanatics , every time before every major soccer tournament they think they are one of the favorite teams to win altough they haven't won anything for more than 50 years.
You seem to have a real problem with Brits and like to make stuff up about them? We generally expect to be out of the World Cup before the quarters...you seem to have been upset by a brit in the past and now have a grudge. Cheer up mate it can't have been that bad.
Agreed. Fury handled Chisora much easier than Haye, and if I dare say so, Vitali. Of course it could have also been just a bad mesh for Chisora style-wise and Fury could turn out to be subpar. But so far I'm sold.
Nothing to do with him being a brit, did you see the other fights I compared this too? I rate this much higher than Povetkin or Jennings in interest, even he winds up doing worse than either, because I can at least see him beating Wlad, unlike Jennings or Povetkin. Both just too small and nothing else to really distinguish them. Even if they had one, one senses it would have just been a lucky punch or Wlad getting old. Here there's a sense of a potential for a generational change, a larger HW with different skills supplanting the older guard. Again, I'm not saying I think this is how it will play out, just that its more interesting than a Povetkin fight where we know Wlad can clinch and keep him at range, and that povetkin would need to work his way inside for any chance of success.
They said the same about Haye -- "Best challenger he has ever faced". Same about Pulev "Best challenger of the last 5 years". People forget that Wlad has a tendency to rise to the occasion. He dominates those who are supposed to be legit challengers, and occasionally looks bad against those who he's supposed to steamroll easily (Jennings, Thompson I, Chambers).
"They" do, everyone has a different opinion. I never saw Pulev as any kind of real threat, he was a poor man's Wlad in every way, his strong suits are size, jab, discipline, outmatched in all of those by Wlad. Haye was a challenge for his power and speed, but less interesting to me because it would have been more of a fluky style win over Wlad if he had won, not because he was simply bigger and better. Fury's the only guy, if he were to somehow beat the odds and win, who could really claim that.
fury is a clown of the highest order, if you'll forgive the pun. Cant wait to see him lose on points.
What the hell does Fury have that People call him the best Opponent for Wlad in years? He is tall.... ok He can sing Elvis songs... ok He owns a batman costume... ok But also... He is fat and not really trained... His ducked already Povetkin, Pulev, Ustinov, Price, Thompson and even Wlad... His best victory is against Cunningham with a foul KO He rematched with journeyman Chisora He is slow He has no power He has a glass chin He has no defense Tyson Fury is dead men walking and we all know that, even Tyson himself knows that his retirement is coming next month :deal
