All 3 of your examples were a lot worse. Direll was sitting on his ass. Griffin took a knee...Jones paused...looked at his ass then hit him with a 2 piece shot. The Bika one the guy was on both knees but I think he was in the heat of the moment.

Oh and they all ended with the other guy koed or unable to continue.

The GGG one he fired the shot and it landed on Lemmy a split second after his knee had hit.

I think he should have been given time to shake it off and maybe a point deduction.

The major difference In each of the other three fights was that the illegal strike was a fight ending punch. I take the point about consistency, but had the refs in the other fights had a realistic option of penalising rather than DQing Bika, Jones or AA, that is the route they may well have taken.

Saying that, of course, reveals my stance on this particular instance - Golovkin should undoubtedly have been penalised for punching after Lemieux had taken a knee, regardless of whether the punch was 'in motion' or whatever. I would say that it was slightly less blatant in GGGs case than in the other 3 examples cited, but nonetheless advantage was gained by an illegal move.

Jones' Punch-es didnt look all that hard, but i guess he really does have more power Then GGG.. Credit to Lemieux for taking that monstrous shot from GGG without complaint.

4:30 in Rumsfeld says that Golovkin vs Lemieux was different from Roy Jones vs Montel Griffen or Dirrell vs Abraham and calls them competitive matches. In what world? Roy Jones was battering Griffen around the ring in a lopsided affair. Direll was not only winning every round on points by punching two or three times as much as Abraham but had earlier scored a knockdown. He was like ten points ahead which is why Abraham was gunning for a knockout.

The real difference between those fights is that Direll and Griffin stayed down and Lemieux got up. If the fouled fighter can't continue then it's a DQ. If he can continue then he should get some time to recover and the fouler should be either warned or docked a point. Golovkin got away without even being docked a point, but he shouldn't have been DQ'd.

Exactly. He should have definitely been given time to shake it off

Huge respect to David. Would have been so easy to pull a Hopkins or a Dirrell and try and screw the fans out of their money

Golovkin should have been deducted a point or two.
Maybe the ref didn't deducted a point because Golovkin immediately apologized for his foul. That's a bit different to Bika, Abraham, Jones ... etc.

I think O'Neil Bell might have been deducted or disqualified for his nasty punches against Jean-Marc Mormeck.
Mormeck went down on his knee and Bell punched him upside down to the back of the head. That was dangerous!

That's the point. I'm pretty sure that Dirrell was able to get up against Abraham but he saw the option to get the win without the possibility to get knocked out in the last rounds.

Dirrell was acting against Abraham ... and he acted better than Francisco Lorenzo against Humberto Soto.

Lemieux simply isn't an a**hole that would have taken advantage of an foul that might be accidental due to the heat of the moment.

You're missing the big grey mammel standing in the middle of the room here.

The big overall difference between the 3 DQ examples and the Golovkin fight was that in all 3 cases the guys weren't (or acted they weren't) able to continue (KO'd) after the punch. Wich according to most rules triggers an immidiate DQ or renders the fight a NC depending on the rules set before the fight.

We have seen many fights in wich one of the fighters got hit when down and nothing happened. Or in many cases point deductions and/or recovery time for the guy taking the punch.

Because that's in the rules. A foul, hitting someone when down, who is clearly in state to continue doesn't trigger a DQ in most cases. ONLY if either it was deamed with malicious intend or a summage from earlier fouls.

There would have been many DQ's in boxing if every punch when down resulted in immidiate disqualification. Watch some Tyson or Bowe fights for example.

If Lemmie had acted KO'd it would have been interesting. I mean if he had claimed he was unable to continue because of that punch the referee has to decided if he was KO'd by an illegal shot or if Golovkin should be DQ'd.

But it was a deliberate punch to a fighter who was on his knees. It's not good to see. I'd have no problem with a DQ but i'm glad it didn't happen, I guess.

Unlike the other opponents Lemieux was able to continue. Not sure what is so hard to understand about why there was no dq. He probably should have lost a point or two if you say anything more you are wrong.
