You obviously dont understand the difference between their respective eras, and why you would inherently expect their records to look different. Fighters from Listons era had shorter amateur careers, were thrown in against seasoned opponents earlier, and fought more frequently. If a fighter had their 0 intact back then, it was taken as a sign that something was wrong.
1) Lewis refused a rematch that he said he would give to VK. 2) It's DOCUMENTED that LL was going to have multiple fights after Vitali.
I'll ask this question to you McGrain since Janitor can't answer it. How would Liston deal with Vitali when VK is better: 1) Managing distance. 2) Harder puncher than Williams. 3) Better defensively. 4) Will wear Sonny down with any clinches as he is about 40(!) pounds heavier. 5) Countering.
Is this post tongue in cheek and I'm just too dense to see it? If not, it's convenient you left out that Johnson also had an 81" reach and was viewed in a much higher light than Boswell. The gap from Boswell to Lennox is wider than the one between Johnson and Vitali if you really want to split hairs.
Training to fight a man who is a shifty, fast, light hitting, in and out boxer who is not strong inside, a man who is 2 inches shorter than yourself is vastly different to preparing for one who boxes from distance ,one who is very strong inside ,and has good power,a great chin ,coupled with a 2 inch height advantage. That was Lewis's problem to solve. Vitali was training to fight an undefeated 21-0-0 up and comer a 6'3" boxer with a good jab and a dangerous right hand, not too dissimilar to Lewis in style. Vitali had been assured he was the next challenger to face Lewis in December ,of course this would fly out the window should he lose to Boswell, bearing this in mind, is it likely that Vitali took things easy in training ,knowing there was so much at stake? To answer your question, yes you are too dense.
Are you trying to claim the top Kleechko nut huggers spot on ESB from Auntie Bug? ( uncletermite ) Only he quoted Manny Steward as saying in late 2002 / early 2003 Doesn't sit very well with your ludicrous claim of multiple fights after Vits, who quits does it?
Here's the link stating that he would fight Vitali again: http://articles.latimes.com/2003/jun/22/sports/sp-plaschke22 I'll find the link where he said he was going to fight a few times before the Vitali fight. You're getting destroyed.
I think you are destroying yourself if you are naive enough to think Lewis is the only fighter ever to say one thing, and do another.atsch
I would want Liston to win this fight because I don't enjoy Klitchkos style of fighting even though it was absolutely effective. All fighters rely on cashing in on their advantages but nobody quite like the Klitchkos. Sonny used his advantages perfectly but he also came through the Williams fights fighting like a S.O.B and that's how I like my champions. When all else fails have a fight. I just think Sonny won't have as much of the advantages he was used to so I lean toward Klichsko here although I would root for Sonny.
