Bermane Stiverne comes back against pretty durable gatekeeper Derrick Rossy.

Stiverne is the favourite but if he'll be in bad shape and won't get a KO win, Rossy can outbox him and get the decision.

    Your thoughts on this fight?

Agree with you. If Stiverne takes this lightly and shows up out of shape, he might very well lose a decision.

Stiverne.... Rossy will probably bank some rounds, but Stiverne will come from behind and KO him. If Rossy had a better chin i'd confidently pick him here.

Not even remotely. Never understood the almost pathological underestimation the Ray Austin win gets on this board. Austin drew against top 10 and top 20 contenders in Sultan Ibragimov, Donald, and Whitaker, beat fringe contenders who were top 20-30 at the time of their Austin matches in Beck, Golata and Williamson, the last 2 were only approximately 2 and 3 years before they fought Austin.

Austin's resume and credible status at the time were comparable with or way above some contenders who for some reason are more liked and would not be highly disputed as good wins (unless they fought a highly hated fighter like Wilder or Fury etc). You could say the same type of stuff about Chagaev (best win in last 5 years against the never had it Pianeta), Perez (best win was against Absusalamov, who's best win was against shot McCline, who still managed to knock him down) Spilzka (best wins against two shot fighters in McCline and Adamek) Cunningham (best HW win against Mansour, whose best win was against Fred Kassi) Ortiz (best win against totally shot Barrett) Browne(best win against shot Toney), among others.

If Rossy had a better jab I would go with him for the upset. He is a much improved fighter. I just hope all the close losses don't take anything out of him. I'll take Stiverne by stoppage late.

Austin was shot to bits. The fact that Stiverne had trouble with him (in fact, was - or should have been - far behind on points when he stopped Ray) is just indicative of how limited Stiverne is. That is absolutely NOT a win you want to bring up to sing his praises. The circumstances of the W are more unflattering than anything.

The only real question here is whether Stiverne can actually stop Rossy (best he can hope for to salvage making this a creditable result) or just wobble him several times but fail to close the deal en route to a UD.

That's like saying Domino's pizza is great.

    It's pizza. It'll do.

A better question is: Who Cares? Neither is remotely world class at this stage.
