Will Ward vs KOvalev do better on PPV , Than GGG vs Lemieux did?

Stevenson-Kova is a 50/50 fight. Their resume's are about even, they BOTH have power and they BOTH hold belts. I really don't understand why this fight isn't talked about more. It's absolutely the fight to make in boxing.

Are you claiming Ward is so relevant and important he can command an instant shot and generate a PPV success , despite being out of the ring for years ?

 

1- His last fight was at Light Heavyweight (technically the one before that too being that Rodriguez never made weight)

2- GGG has never had a fight at 168, why should he get an immediate shot at the champ

3- If GGG fought Ward, despite Ward being out of the ring for years would it be an immediate PPV success.

4- Why did Dawson get a shot at Ward when he hadn't fought at Super Middleweight

5- Is beating Rupert Murdock (a Super Middleweight ranked 276th in the world) earning your shot at the Light Heavyweight champ.

No it isn't. Stevenson is a one trick pony with a glass jaw. Ward - Kovalev would be a 50/50 fight.

 

His last fight was against a another SMW. He 'technically' has never fought at 175 against another 175 pounder.

Because fools claim he ran 168 Champ - Froch into retirement. Ward is was only a belt holder.

Because of Ward. GGG is a PPV failure.

So why is Kovalev desperate to get him into the ring?

 

1. But GGG has never had a fight above 160. Ward at least has fought at Light Heavyweight and has a Gold medal there.

2. Fools claim Ward could beat Kovalev. Kovalev holds 3 belts there.

3. If Ward is such a huge draw, why does he do poor ticket sales and TV ratings

4. But he hadn't fought at Super Middleweight in years. Even though Ward hasn't fought at Middleweight in years, why doesn't he drop down for GGG

It's a great match up so hopefully it will do better numbers. I have mixed feelings about this PPV numbers. I want some avoided fighters to get good numbers so they can get fights. At the same time PPV is wrong platform in general that is making boxing more and more of niche sport.

 

Uh neither could sell out an arena, so I'll say a resounding no.
