Based on the current undercard, which is not going to help bring in casuals, this might be more like 700K-1million PPV buys but I am still buying:hat:thumbsup

 

I see what you are trying to say. Hardcore fans know GGG but Hardcore boxing fans are rare as boxing took a big dip here in the USA.

People have to remember the casual boxing fan has really been put off by the last two Floyd fights. It does have a carry over effect. Look what the Berto bout did, after the Pacquaio debacle. Might take a year for ppl to have faith again without a Latino fighter in a match to get respectable numbers.

 

What a loser argument. Where were you before these numbers came out? I'm sure you were with the GGG crowd who said this fight would do 400K or more in buys and was this era's Hagler-Hearns can't miss fight.:rofl

 

No I wasn't go back and check through the threads if you want. I stand by my opinion however that this is an aftershock of the Floyd Pac debacle. Actually outside Cotto or Canelo there is no one in the divsion that will have GGG crack 500K in sales for the next year.

 

What's so impressive about Mayweather's numbers?

He could literally fight anyone and the TMT hat wearing minions would buy it, his PPV numbers mean nothing.

Floyd is Jim Jones and his fans are the the unfortunate souls laying face down in the muck, after dranking the Kool Aid.

Why are people so hung up on numbers, despite the fight being a mismatch it was far more enjoyable than any Floyd fight I can remember..

The fight was a cruel jopke and should haven't been on PPV. GGG would kill to make as much money in his whole career as PBF makes in one fight. GGG will never be the star or boxer PBF is. He's 34 at 34 PBF was the ring champ in 4 different weightclasses a HOF fighter and a ATG.:deal

 

Who ever said GGG will be able to challenge Floyd's career? What crack are you smoking?

 

Who cares about PPV numbers? If Floyd, Canelo or Cotto screw up their courage and fight Triple G they will get destroyed by the best middleweight champ since Marvelous Marvin Hagler. If Triple G continues to dominate and knock out all middleweight contenders he will be considered the greatest middleweight champion of all time by boxing historians. All else is rubbish.

 

150k is the official number, with $8m and $2m gate. Seems it was a success overseas too and did quite well in merchandising.

People need to take a step back and not compare this fight to other PPVs. The headline act was picking up $2m, that's 5% of Mayweather's bog-standard pay-cheque.

I'd be willing to wager that the profit margin on this GGG fight was higher than most recent PPV fights (May-Pac excluded, of course)
