Is Ward going to LHW because of Degale?

How am I being ridiculous exactly?

Dawson was more proven at the top level than Bute.

Dawson was more proven at the top level than what DeGale is now.

How are you going to dispute that?

Beatle said that Ward wasn't interested in fighting guys with speed and skill. Which was silly, seeing as though he fought Dawson.

At the end of the day, you're entitled to your opinion. But in my opinion, there would be no logic in ducking Bute to then immediately sign up to fight Dawson.

    bailey,

I never specifically mentioned SMW. I said he had a better resume and he was more proven.

You can take into account their ages, but wins over Adamek, Harding, Tarver, Johnson and Hopkins etc, were better wins than the likes of Brinkley, Andrade, Miranda, Johnson and Magee etc.

    I don't know why you're arguing.

Roy was a poor win for Joe, because he was finished as a top level fighter, and Joe had dismissed him as a threat on three occasions, even saying that a fight would be pointless. It's not just about age. Tarver, Johnson and Hopkins were all still capable of fighting at the top level when Dawson beat them. They were all better than Roy was at that point. So the circumstances are different.

I don't disagree with any of that. But Ward couldn't have know for certain that Dawson was going to struggle to make weight. So for me, I don't give Ward credit for beating Dawson, but I give him lots of credit for taking the fight in the first place.

From what I could gather at the time, he was going to see how he felt. He'd neither committed to staying at SMW, nor had he committed to moving up to LHW.

Smith was a tune up to get rid of the rust, and to see how he felt at a higher weight.

That can be done in the gym with sparring partners. Didn't need a fat bum to do that with.

Not a coward that to harsh. But something is wrong with the guy. He just doesn't seem interested in fighting. He is probably a very good money manager and doesn't really need to chase fights. We shall see soon I hope.

You don't take tune ups against fighters from the division below to acclimatize to the weight above. Ward's trying to fight another SMW for his second ''tune up'' to acclimatize to 175, and against yet another very weak opponent as well. :patsch

And Ward does't need all these tune ups anyway. He's a gym rat who stays working in the gym year round. All this talk of ''shaking of the rust'' is just more bull from him. Both him and his trainer have said that he doesn't suffer from ring rust due to his diligence to his craft and work ethic. Prior to coming off a 14 month layoff and shoulder surgery, they predicted he was going to look as sharp as ever (even better in fact due to him having two good shoulders) when he fought Edwin Rodriguez and come fight night there were no signs of rust. He looked very sharp and many of the post-fight reviews actually mentioned this and how he displayed no signs of ring rust at all.

Btw, Loudon, the inclusion of this :patsch in my last post was aimed at Ward not you. Just in case you thought I was popping off at you again.

Yes he still has his ****ty WBA belt but looks like NSAC won't sanction his Murdock fight because it's a giant mismatch.

Listen to what Ward says here about only having seen 1 or 2 rounds of Kovalev in action.

    0:36

    [YT]y9Hyl-XQbbQ[/YT]

Check out what he said in this one about ''having his eye on Edwin Rodriguez for many, many years''

    10:40 to 11:54

    [YT]sVUpnVKO180[/YT]

That's the same Kovalev whose trainer John David Jackson went up to Ward's godfather and trainer a long time ago (who is extremely close to Ward and ''discusses everything with him'') and told him to his face that his boy Kovalev was going to beat Ward. But Ward expects us to believe he hasn't been watching Kovalev like a hawk for years as well :patsch:rofl

    [YT]CKDWkKAgQBA[/YT]

By the way, Ward knows these things about Rodriguez because he sends spies to his opponent's camps. He sent Brandon Gonzales to spy on Kessler and I think Bryant Jennings who is good friends with him and is being trained by Jackson is likely going to be spying on Kovalev for him in the event they do ever fight each other.

And here he is at it again, lying through his teeth about what happened when Darnell Boone dropped him.

Start watching at 9:38 and the bit about the Boone KD is 10:32

''The first big moment was when I got knocked down. It was probably my ninth or tenth fight. It was against a guy named Darnell Boone. That's when I realized I was really a professional prize fighter. It was real. I had a lot of amateur tendencies. Like, for example, referee would say break, I would respect that command. My coach was telling me, Stop relaxing inside. And I was beating this guy from pillar to post. He's an old veteran. Everything to gain. Nothing to lose. Referee said break and I looked at him—boom—he hit me with a shot I never saw. Sitting in my hotel room that night, talking to my wife, I said, This is serious. This is really prize fighting. This isn't a joke anymore. If I have anything to do with this, it'll never happen again. And it hasn't.''

So Boone clipped you as you were looking at referee after he said break? Er. but that's not what happened at all, Dre. ''Be honest with the fans''

The ref called break when the two of you weren't even in a clinch and you'd just rattled off 5 shots and were in the process of ducking Boone's counter attack, at which point he caught you with the uppercut that dropped you when you were supposedly looking at the ref? :rofl

Thanks Serge for all the leg work. I really mean that. Somebody should hire your ass somewhere for boxing.
