Didn't Trinidad also lose to Winky? And hasn't Cotto-Alvarez not yet actually happened yet?

In any case, I think Cotto probably has the better resume in large part due to his victory over Sergio, but head-to-head, I think Tito blasts Cotto out, whether it was at 160, 154, or 147. At their best at each weight, Trinidad was always better H2H as I see it.

Tito had something that Cotto lacks and that's resiliency. Tito wasn't mentally weak. He will continue fighting and come forward. Something that doesn't seat well with Cotto.

I think the Winky fight is fair game, because Tito did whop on Mayorga, which didn't surprise me (the Winky fight did, however).

A shame in one sense that Shane ever made the ill-advised move of giving Winky a chance. Winky had been largely stuck on the outside looking in, until Shane.

Had Shane not gone that route, I think there's a great chance we would have gotten to see Mosley vs Trinidad - one of the fights I'm most disappointed never happened from that era when they were both near-peak (or at least nearish-peak).

You should Probably get hit with bricks for 11 rounds and see how resiliant you would be.. JS... What Margarito did to Cotto should never determine Cottos heart, Ever.

No, I think that's backwards. Pretty sure they were going to fight if Shane had beaten Winky. I thought Trinidad was even in attendance for that fight?

yeah i think you are right...Mosely should have been in the position Winky was in...Damn Winky spoiled it for everyone.! That would have been a Huge Fight!:-(..Though i do think they were going to Re negotiate that fight had tito won because it was a pretty demanded fight at the time...I could be wrong doe.

Yeah, I bet you're probably right on that. In fact now that I think about it, I think Mosley-Trinidad were still banking that Shane "I had a ****** on my back" would somehow win the rematch (and to his credit he performed considerably better, but still not well enough to win - and Winky did some stupid un-Winky like stuff in the rematch).

Regardless, it would have been an awesome fight. But the timing just wasn't right, as Trinidad had outgrown 147 by the time Mosley established himself there against DLH when both Mosley and Tito were still undefeated.

I am a Cotto fan, but you have to look at the fighter as a whole.
Especially in the attitude department. Tito never stop being hungry as a fighter(before Hopkins). He fought De la Hoya in his prime. That fight at the time was the equivalent of Pac vs Money. They knew that's the fight that people wanted to see and they made it happened. No diva stuff, no catchweights, no fear. After 154, he wanted o be the middleweight champ, he beat Joppy and went to fight Bernard. Again, there were no catchweights, no stalling, no making excuses who is the A or B side. He fought his way to Hopkins.

I will tell you one thing, if Tito was fighting today, he be trying to get the fight done with GGG. None of these bs catchweights or holding the title hostage. It wouldn't be up for discussion.

And going back to resiliency, Tito wouldn't let a guy named Trout beat him. Just would have dug deep. Specially knowing he is the better fighter. Sorry about the typos, I'm eating.

Trout is sort of a poor mans Winky imo... Trout would have troubled Tito, but maybe not beat him...But who knows.

The problem I see with Cotto is inconsistency, and not taking his bigger bouts with the seriousness they deserved. He pretty much fought Pac without a trainer in his corner. I think he matured late as a fighter. If he had the work ethics and maturity 10 years ago that he has now, he be on a different level.
I agree with Rumsfield in that he is more technically sound that Tito. But I still pick Tito to beat him.
