Oleksandr Gvozdyk has one of the most pleasing on the eye styles around. 4-5 fights he beats Fonfara with relative ease.

I'd probably go by Gvozdyk tight decision, Fonfara is a tough SOB who despite having terrbile defense can take his opponents to the limit when he lets his 3-4 punch combinations loose, just ask Cleverly

I think Fonfara gives most guys at 175 a tough fight but Kovalev, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk and stylistically Pascal are all wrong for him. And sadly due to promotional issues most of those fight except for Betebiev-Fonfara will most likely never happen.

true, Fonfara isn't good when he fights going back, it's his offense that makes him formidable, one of the few things I agree with Teddy Atlas on :yep

I saw this last night when I was doing this thread and I was going to post it on my Gvozdyk thread but I didn't want to overwhelm the front page with Gvozdyk's left and right in everybody's faces.:yep

It makes me mad that its so short.

Everytime one of these threads arises, I just know that all of the youtube links for the subject fighter, from Russia/an ex-Soviet country will be 6-9 minutes long.... including intro and walk-in.... and end in a glorious / horrible KO. Both fantastic and disturbing.... I feel less like a sports fan and more like someone watching a snuff movie.

In a certain visceral way..... I think it's the obvious pleasure in the KO that I find disturbing. No pretense of it being a regrettable part of the the job. Instead, see Kovalev's grin as the foe twitches and writhes. The man is a poster-boy for both my joy and misgivings: brilliant fighter..but supposedly his KO% increased after killing a man.... that's just scary.

At his current rate of progression, he'll never get a chance to fight someone like Fonfara.
    That goes for Mehkontsev too

Yeah unfortunately that's the truth, however the answer isn't Haymon. It would be nice to see him with K2 anybody would be better than Arum at this point, I wish there'd be a mass exodus of Loma, Murata, Mekhontsev and Gvozdyk they're all being wasted and its sickening to me.

Yeah I know, its hard to reconcile those two feelings sometimes. As far as Kovalev goes, most likely he's come to terms with it by telling himself accidents happen and wasn't his fault. Which while it may not be entirely true it probably helps him sleep better at night.
