I think Prince Patel is an intelligent young man. He's taking professional boxing to its logical conclusion. Career planning.

He's talking himself into a position to make money from the outset, using social media and controversy.
He's not in a "money division", he's a flyweight. He's probably better than average but he's not an exceptional talent.
He probably doesn't have many options.

Boxing isn't really a viable career for the vast majority who enter it. Soon enough you're just a washed-up pug, a never-was, with no money saved and qualified for nothing.
Prince Patel is maximizing his chances of being an exception to that rule. He might make a few thousand £ more due to his self-promotion, and all of us who live in this world knows how important it is to make money.

I'm going to chop it up for you really quick.

Both were at Repton at the same time. Lucien was at 54kg and doing well whilst Chris was at 57kg. Lucien claimed he felt tight at the weight and looked to move 57kg. They had several fights at the higher weight - all of which Chris won. This isn't up for debate. It's what happened. Lucien then moved back down to 54 and shortly afterwards left Repton.

I know Lucien and his family up in Hackney - one of my best mates is is neighbour and close family friend to them so I've got no reason to be biased on that. I'll be cheering him on his pro career and was delighted to see a local boy being profiled as one to watch on Sky Sports.

There was another kid there at the weight called Connor something who's name I can't remember who moved to some club in Es*** and Patel although I don't remember him being there very long. Edwards came in to the Repton fold a fair bit later.

Apparently and this comes via my mate so I can't verify this as I didn't see it myself - but I've never known him to lie to me - Patel and Chris did have a very intense sparring session in which Patel, frustrated at being outboxed tried to get overly aggressive which saw the sparring session turn into a real brawl in the ring that had to be separated. Patel left Repton shortly after for a host of different reasons.

Tbh I never knew that there had been any bad blood between the two before yesterday and think that - as having been a friend of Patel - that may have led to you hearing things about Chris that weren't true.

Also didn't you write a few threads about Brett Beadon? He was in the gym around this time and can confirm everything I've just said. Chris was naturally very gifted but injuries have prevented him ever building up any real steam.

    What an absolute muppet.

Still living off that ONE interview with Kugan a few months back I see... "I get ratings...".

Trying to mug off a former world champion on live TV, Prince Patel won't get anywhere near a world title... in fact, the only hope he has of landing a British title is because the Flyweight division has very little depth to it otherwise I wouldn't see him getting near that either. Don't rate him.

    Clown.

    This.

Let's not forget Mayweather used this tactic to great effect. Yes, Mayweather was very talented, but before the Hoya fight he couldn't draw flies to a dump. His mouth got bigger as his style got more & more boring, unyet he just earned $200m for one fight. That obviously hasn't gone unnoticed.

No way Prince Patel could have knocked down Freitas, but Barry Jones did.

Yeah, but technically he's got a point, no one really talks about Barry Jones.
It's taken Patel's insult to even get Jones mentioned here on the British forum. :deal

Freitas is an odd one. Gave up on a few fights when the going got tough. That said the things wouldn't get tough for him against Patel. Freitas KO1.
