Well that's really the heart of the argument. Does a male boxer with NO takedown defence have what it takes to pound out a female MMA fighter who specialises in this? Is the difference between male/female greater than the difference between boxer/mma? Golovkin is obviously waaay too powerful and hard hitting for her to even think of taking on, even IF he hadn't been a wrestler back home. Floyd has none of those huge advantages of weight, power and technique, but he does have legendary speed and he IS a man. He may be able to tattoo RR from the outside; but imho she'd need just one successful takedown to end the match. Could be wrong, we'll never see it, but it's fun speculation.
I agree with you. I thought i was the only person who has seen that grappling in a streetfight is dangerous. If someone got someone in an armbar or some sort of choke in a streetfight im sure that they would get gouged or bitten. 100% they would freak out and let go
Dont get me wrong mma would be very usefull in a fight and would def help anyone as would boxing as most people even so called hard men cant actually fight but just remember what starts out as 1on 1 could end up different. While u take someone down and try to choke etc his friends may get brave and put the boot in or he may produce a weapon and if you are on the ground its very hard to get away. Also a take down on a pavement that could contain many potential harmful objects like broken bottles etc.
Also rousey said she could beat fmj in an actual fight. Im no floyd fan but what makes people think he cant fight? Also imo roman Gonzalez batters her in a real fight and weighs the same as a bag of sugar
Yes i agree. MMA is definetley better than sitting down and eating chips all day. But if your in a fight its obviously better to just end it there and then (like a boxer would do) with your fists rather than start grappling and holding where headbutting, gouging or biting is all new to you. For example, i have seen many mma fighters getting taught to put their hands over the opponents mouth to interupt breathing when they are grappling on the floor, it works in a cage with a referee watching and the only defence a fighter has is to move his head, but on the street, theres a lot of people who would bite your hand...and bite it hard. Where as if i throw a punch, that makes contact with you for how long? miliseconds? No biting, no headbutts, no gouging. And a boxer, who obviously punches harder than your average bloke, is more than likely to do damage if he hits an untouched face 5 or 6 times
Again, biting / gouging isn't all that effective, unless you get a vital body part. Eyes are damn hard to gouge out, and probably a good thing too. When the adrenaline is pumping lots of things that would freak one out under normal circumstances have little effect. That said, I agree with you guys that you probably don't want to grapple a guy if there are more than one of them. Invariably bar fights start with the little guy putting his cigarette out in your beer, to you vs six of his big, hairy mates. Damn, I hate people
LOL when I was at school some girls decided to pick on a new Polish girl and there was a huge catfight at the back of the class. Apparently she football-kicked one of her assailants in the box and it ... worked. Seems like guys aren't the only ones that should be worried about getting kicked between the legs.
