Is Ward going to LHW because of Degale?

I have been saying this for years. He likes to fight the guys who stand straight upright with no lateral movement. Basically heavy bags with legs. He knows this and so does Virgil. Degale could get himself in place to land one of those Boone uppercuts.

Is this even a debatable point? Ward hasn't been fighting anyone. Did he leave it due to Badou Jack? Of course not. He'll most likely never fight at smw again.

    bailey,

    There are NO double standards.

The an*logy you've given with Cotto and GG is completely different.

I'm going to try one more time.

    Lucian Bute:

    Age - 32

    Stance - Southpaw

    Height - 6'1

    Reach - 72"

    Attributes - Speed and skills

Best wins: Bika, Berrio, Andrade, Miranda, Magee and Johnson

    Chad Dawson:

    Age - 30

    Stance - Southpaw

    Height - 6'1

    Reach - 76"

    Attributes - Speed and skills

Best wins - Adamek, Harding, Tarver, Johnson and Hopkins

Now what would have been the logic in running from either one of those guys due to fear, before immediately signing to fight the other??

    I'm open to your explanation.

Ducking one big southpaw with speed and skills, to fight another big southpaw with speed and skills?

One that was more proven, and who had a better resume?

    It doesn't make sense.

Now as I've discussed, your Cotto-GG an*alogy has lot's of different circumstances involved.

Cotto has the better resume. But he's past prime, and he's coming towards the end of his career. He's also not a legitimate MW, and GG is one of the most feared punchers in boxing. Despite his resume not being as strong, he'd be the overwhelming favourite if they were to fight.

    Do you understand?

Ducking GG to instead fight Cotto, would NOT be the same as ducking Bute to fight Dawson.

People often accuse Roy of running from Nunn out of fear. Yet he tried to fight Frankie Liles, and he fought Tarver etc.

Now I can't explain it to you any better than that.

Who cares if Dawson wasn't a SMW at the time?

Who cares if Dawson's best wins were against older fighters?

Tarver and Hopkins were still top level fighters.

If you don't rate Johnson, fine. We'll omit him from both of their resumes.

    Who's left?

A near 36 year old Magee.

    Berrio.

    Andrade.

    Miranda.

Sakio Bika, who hasn't had a noteworthy win in his entire career.

And why are you fixated on age? You give Joe a ton of credit for beating a 43 year old Hopkins, and you also give him a lot of credit for beating a near 40 year old washed up version of Roy.

Those are what you call double standards.

I don't agree with the above at all. But this is what happens when you have a guy who has a huge ego. It's complete nonsense. He was more than happy to let Carl step in, but then he was jealous because he was out of the picture and he wasn't getting the publicity.

I can't defend the above, just like how he wouldn't/couldn't admit that Boone had caught him with a great shot, as per Serge's links.

Ward's ego is as big, if not bigger than Roy's and Joe's. You have to expect half truths and contradictions. But I stand by my point. He clearly didn't want to fight Bute when Carl did, but I don't think he feared him, and I think he would have fought him at some point, had Carl not crushed him.

There's talk of him fighting Kovalev next year. And although I'm an advocate of the old adage "styles make fights" I'd find it strange that a guy who ran from Bute at SMW, would fight a guy like Kovalev at LHW.

    :good

Are you now pretending Serges post doesnt exist or trying to use black and white stats that you accuse others of?
You are referring to completely different fighters. I cant decide here if you are just trying to keep the thread going or if you are acting dumb for a joke
I will break your post down when I have the time

    Edit
There is post 181 and 183 for you to answer

You also seem happy to speak for Ward but after Ward had said he had no interest in Bute and Bute then agreed to face Froch in potentially a 2 fight deal, Ward claimed he was only saying that to build interest in a Bute fight but Bute has instead tied himself in to face Froch, so what are you going on about?
You are speaking for Ward and then coming out with completely different things to what he said himself in the end.

I think Ward clearly avoided Bute, and I have a hard time thinking he will fight Kovalev. I will give him huge props though if he actually does. Sorry, but since the Super 6, I have been frustrated with him...

    I think you are right.
I give him time as he seems a friendly fellow, but he can only see things his own way even when facts are laid down in front of him

Be interesting to hear what his excuses are for Ward ducking Adonis Stevenson and how the lineal LHW champion of the world wasn't ''worthy'' but the ''#2 or #3 MW in the world'' and all the other MWs and far less less worthy fighters Ward has called out, tried to arrange fights against or actually fought were. I'm sure he'll try and find one from somewhere.
